Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

The facility itself was clean, secure, and well maintained, and I generally had no issues with access or the condition of the property (although staff are not always present on-site so carefully call before hand to confirm staff is on site if you have questions). The security features and overall upkeep were very good. My biggest concern was the frequent and substantial rate increases. After the first year, the price increases were disappointing, and by the second year I felt they had become excessive. While the facility may work well for short-term storage needs, those planning to store belongings for multiple years should carefully review the pricing structure and consider facilities that offer longer-term rate stability. The long-term cost became difficult to justify in my experience. ... Currently moving my stuff out to a competitor due to my rent being raised over 40% within a few months of moving in. They get you in with a low rent then raise it every few months and hope you stay paying too much. Found another local place that gives a price guarantee for a year and is also a month to month commitment. Gave three stars because it is a newer place and the units are clean. Staff is sometimes friendly and sometimes not. For me it came down to rent. In this economy I can’t afford to be surprised by a 30-40% increase randomly like that. My suggestion to the owners: give a price guarantee for a year. It’s better to have tenants there rather than empty units. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
