Read some helpful reviews of Kimco Self Storage at 6000 South 56th Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Terrible experience. They will call and harass you literally non-stop when you throw things away in their trash bins that are provided. They actually go through them to see what it is that you're throwing away including things like old-time Warner boxes that the company told you to throw away because they are no longer able to be used and then call you and let you know that that's somebody else's property and you can't throw that away actually when in fact you were told to throw it away by the old time Warner company. They go through to see if who didn't break down their boxes. Find the address and the name on the box from the trash bins and call you about it. Though no signs were posted about breaking down boxes. ... Read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had 3 cosmetology stations (each worth over $300) in our unit that were moldy, from supposed "condensation". I know what condensation looks like and it DOES NOT leave puddles on top of things. I've had my stuff in there for several years and just in the last 2 months did my stuff start to get moldy. The best part, no one cares, not even a sorry, just too bad. To top it off the floor is too damp to sweep (not that there was hardly anything to sweep) but the little bit that there was, was impossible to sweep and now we won't get our deposit back. I would highly suggest you DO NOT store anything of any value at this storage unit. ... Read more

Would leave zero stars if I could. We rented a U-Haul on Saturday for not even a full day. We filled up the gas prior to return it even making sure to put extra in because that is how it was given to us. After putting almost $32 worth of fuel and dropping it off, we were charged an additional $12 for not filling up the tank on top of the other charges for the rental. I called and spoke with a representative who informed me that when it was check in this morning, the gas level was under full. She said she was not able to provide a refund, but I could contact U-Haul myself. She then told me that maybe someone over the weekend siphoned has out, but we would have no idea. Lesson learned, take a photo of the fuel indicator when you return your rented U-Haul or they will take advantage of you. UPDATE: I spoke with a U-Haul representative and they have issued us a refund. We still will never use Kimco for anything in the future. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Kimco Self Storage - 6000 South 56th Street has to offer. These amenities include Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking and Credit Cards Accepted. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Kimco Self Storage - 6000 South 56th Street can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 400 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Kimco Self Storage - 6000 South 56th Street come at a variety of prices, starting from $45 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $350 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
