Doris was very friendly and easy to work with as we set up the rental of a space for our RV camper. The outdoor spaces seem wider and easier to back into than our current place. Looking forward to using our space. ... Read more

Not sure who owns this facility now, but this place will be reported. I had an indoor and an outdoor unit for 5 years at Midgard, made all my payments on time. The outdoor unit was burglarized twice I never heard from Midgard by phone, text, or email. The property insurance company that works with Midgard denied both claims even after finding one of the locks that was cut inside the unit. Lost over $3k of my merchandise and damaged nearly everything. The outdoor unit was filled with rats feces the clothing was mildewed due to the unit being ajar, how long was I don’t know. The only reason I knew about the unit being broken in the second time was when I went to check on my things. One of the many site managers put a lock from Midgard on the unit and they chose the passcode. There was no attempt to look at surveillance cameras, they don’t know what happens at this business. They never provide you with any other information. I’ve been trying to find a place to get my things out of those units ever since. Fast forward to today, they pretend that you don’t tell them you plan to vacate. That’s just another way to swindle another payment out of customers and/or threaten them with blemishing their credit. Midgard’s associates will call you 50 times demanding payment, but not one time did they call or text me to let me know my unit was burglarized twice. They have the audacity to put a storage unit payment on your credit when they can get away with customers unit(s) being broken into and not legally be required to give notice or an explanation how it happened. With several different site managers, the gate to the outdoor units being left open, the poor customer service, and random price hikes you might want to try somewhere that doesn’t feel like you’re being swindled. They clearly don’t care about anything other than payments. I say again, do not trust this storage facility. Not only are the site managers sketch, but this business is sketchy and doesn’t care about protecting customers or their personal possessions. Good luck dealing with them. ... Read more

I have been leasing a unit for a year now and I have had no problems whatsoever with the unit or the facility. It is always clean and well lighted. There are two cameras on each row, which gives me a great piece of mind. I also park a box truck at this location, off Atlas Road in Columbia, South Carolina. The property manager Chad has always been polite and I see him around the property A lot, which gives me a peace of mind that someone is always paying attention and keeping up with what’s going on. The property is always clean and well kept. I highly recommend this storage unit. ... Read more

I’ve been with Midgard Storage off Atlas for over 15 years. My before post was 4 stars, but Midgard has become so greedy, I can no longer stay with them. I'm not disgruntled with them, just feed up, and feel everyone should know about the company. I suggest unless it's a month or 2 stay, keep take your storage business elsewhere. Staff is great, just doing their jobs and the only reason I gave them 1 star, but with the company policies they deserve minus stars. Several Problems: 1. Price increases are every 2 or 3 months, within the year my storage fees went from $55 to $107. I caught on to this BS a few years ago and changed my parking spot a few times to basically get my fee lowered to the base amount, and like clockwork every 2 or 3 months fee increase. 2. Charging a person $10 for 24hr access, and making you maintain it for 1 month, and only need early access for one day. 3. I stayed though I've had a whole enclosed 6X12 trailer stolen, and on another occasion, had a Generator stolen from a different trailer. All those cameras located on the premises, no camera footage, their system somehow was down and should be fixed within a day or so. 4. There move out policy is thrash, manager states give a 30-day notice, and if it's after the 1st, you have to pay for the complete month after your 30-days. I understand prorating, but if I put in the notice on the 5th of December, I have to pay the complete month of January. BS, and just money hungry. ... Read more

Since they have this new system, I went from 237 a month to $289 because they charging me insurance which and I have already sent in at the location on Atlas road. It's ridiculous. I'm going through this every month saying that I don't have insurance which and I do the new system is messed up and I'm leaving. The day is the 27th of September. I have talked to someone my payment supposed to be 247 a month. What they trying to do is correct it in the system. But I called to make a payment by phone the 27th of September. It is still saying 289 I have talked to someone in the office about the situation they telling me on their end in the system and say I owe $267. I have insurance on the car in storage that is covered but you have to have home owners insurance that is $20 a month. I stay with someone that have their own homeowners insurance in their name so therefore I have to pay the extra $20 towards my bill that is $247 a month. This is too much. Do not come here and do no business with midgard storage The way they have this thing set up now. These people are crooks. I'm leaving at the end of October. It's not worth it. This home owner insurance never been mentioned to me. This is new. They tell you one thing getting close to the first of the month. That's when they add new things and fees to your bill. Too many storages out there. They can go to hell ... Read more

it has been nearly a month since i’ve used midgard storage. Not only was the 30 day notice to cancel your leasing agreement not expressed or displayed properly but after filling out the form I talked to a representative and they told me that they don’t have this on file and that’s why I was charged yet again. I have tried calling, emailing, and texting and once i express my complaint they stop replying. So since this form i filled out isn’t on file nor has it been sent to be again so i can at least fill out to prevent being charged. I am completely disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience. Glad to see people have better experience but i will not be storing with the place again ! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
