I paid full price for a unit in “a/c” only to walk into a unit that was probably hotter than the outside units, full of cobwebs, pitch black and two lights that did not work. When I brought up that the lights didn’t work, I was handed two lightbulbs and asked if I had a step stool. I didn’t mind doing the work, however, I put the lightbulbs in and they didn’t work. Turns out there is an electricity issue. Perhaps why it’s also so hot back there. When reported, instead of offering other units when I asked (due to moving my whole home in there) I was told there were no other units my size and a work order would be put in that would take 3-4 weeks. I asked 2 days prior about the location to see if I could move and I was told there were 6 units my same size, on the same row available. BUT WAIT! IT GETS BETTER! I am then told that if the unit is full when the guys come out to work on it, I will need to come move my items out for them to finish the job and have working lights. But no worries, they will call me when that happens so I can remove my items from their broken unit. To say that I’m less than satisfied with this unit and storage overall, is an understatement. I never received a phone call back about my inquiry because Michael “figured he would run into me.” I passed on cheaper options just in case and now I am completely regretting that. Go to Extra Space Storage, where they are renovating their units and buildings - it’s literally spotless. Moving is stressful enough. They should make it their number one priority and a seamless process for their only job to deliver a clean and ready/working unit. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. In my years of customer service, this would never be a “solution” to someone simply asking for the lights to work in their storage unit that you cannot see inside. This is lazy, neglectful, and most of all worrisome of what all will get into my items before I get them out. I understand storages won’t look like a staged home. I do expect a quick walkthrough maybe knock down some cobwebs and check the lights though. Delivering what you purchased for a storage unit is a bare minimum ask. ... Read more

This was my first time Renting a storage space, I had this Unit 411 for 16 months Rent went up twice at 11900 Katy Freeway Houston Texas 77079 is a Joke If I had known the hours of operation at this location I would have never rented Here 9:30 to 6:00pm are Bankers hours and not convenient for customers to come and go on a couple of occasions I’ve gone by and the air was barely running The air came on right as I arrived to the Unit it was already 90 degree weather on the day I moved out there was no air in my Unit at all looked like there was some silver foil covering the air vent I paid on time each month for Climate control I believe the air is turned on maybe an hour before opening, the hours for this location are so they can turn the air up and down I was also locked in twice the day I moved in and had to call Over Night headquarters to unlock the Gates the movers even said that they would tell everyone not to Rent at any Public Storage they need to put arrows or signs to let people know that You exit at the far end of the building the employee even parked His vehicle behind the office door which blocked the movers from turning and they had to back out when leaving with a Big Trailer I had to rent at the Building across the Freeway at 10801 Katy Freeway Houston Tx. 77079 because of the hours this location much better hours 6::00pm to 9:00 easier move in and out Newer Building, If you decide to Rent at public storage go in person don’t rent over the phone go to the Newer ... I would sell everything I own for pennies on the dollar before I ever use a public storage unit again. Worst experience you can have and they charge you for it. Nobody is ever here but every time you come here you need someone to help you with info you were not told about via text or email. Codes change and that info isn't in the app isn't texted or sent in any way but I get an email every month a few days before my bill is due. They lied and said my lock wasn't secured right and they couldn't lock it themselves. Get here and have to fight to get my access number for my building cuz nobody is at front desk I had to call the customer service number. I get to my unit and they put a new lock on it and didn't tell me this. Nobody is at the front so I can't even go up there and get the key. Every single time I come to this unit I have to fight to get access to it. Drive up, something changed they didn't tell me, drive all the way back up front, hope there's somebody there and most likely wait a long time then drive back up. Every trip I've taken here has been to grab a thing or 2 then bounce, a 5 minutes venture once I enter the gates. Every time I come here it's at least 30 min before I leave because of how horribly this company is run. Id leave my stuff in the street before I rent another unit from here. I'd actually have a chance of getting access to it quicker. ... Read more

This facility was broken into from looks like someone who had access they went straight to the gate and opened it manually then broke into my storage and stole a collection of things that took me years and years to build up. Then had the nerve to try and overcharge me the next week or so. How can we feel secure with our things with your service you claim to provide and issues like this happen. Heard it’s happened before. ... Read more

I recently left a 1-star review due to a misunderstanding about my experience. Upon further reflection and/or after speaking with your team, I realize my initial review does not reflect the excellent service you provided. I’d like to revise my review to 5 stars because Ms Valerie and the staff was incredibly helpful,” “the facility exceeded my expectations,” and “the issue was resolved promptly and professionally” I highly recommend them!! Very very horrible please destroy your items from day one I was given two different accounts management is horrible and the older gentleman has no clue what he’s doing. Don’t understand why he has the title of manager. Needless to say my unit got broken into on December 8, even with police presence Manager had very poor manager skills so if you want your storage to be broken into by all means go ahead and rent at this location talk to the maintenance people when I was moving my stuff out and they clearly told me they had 60 break-ins last month that they were on this site putting up boards. This is from the crew that repairs the damages. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
