Prior to being taken over by the initial owners sister (I believe is who she said she was) I would have given this establishment 4 stars. Although the units could be updated, that was my choice to deal with. They aren’t terrible, just older and some minor updates could have been done to very much improve them. Nonetheless, they served the purpose, met my needs, my budget, and are around the corner from my home. More over, the previous owner was very kind, thoughtful, helpful and always went out of his way to help however he could with access to units and informing you if something needed to be done with payments before anything was done to compromise any finances. My family has THREE units there, so all of this was very helpful and a big part of the reason why we have done business there for about 4-5 years now despite there being more updated options. HOWEVER, in about the last year, give or take, according to his sister, so sadly, he (former owner/facility contact) became ill and SHE took over. It’s been downhill from there. From payments being screwed up because of her oversights, break in’s at the facility that somehow cameras cannot capture…sorry, that’s super sus, to an 45% price increase. No, no typo, FORTY FIVE PERCENT PRICE INCREASE. As if all of that isn’t bad enough, SHE IS TERRIBLE TO DEAL WITH. She’s rude, talks over you, zero people skills and clearly is taking advantage with the RIDICULOUS, UNNECESSARY, UNFAIR PRICE INCREASE. Taking the insane inflation crisis we are being robbed with and using it to make a 45% price increase is absurd. Especially considering for what you get. Which is horrendous service, break ins and average at best (ps…no climate control; again my choice, but something you should be aware of) storage units. As mentioned, my family and I have 3 units here. So obviously, we are exploring other options after all of this. We are basically now paying what could be compared to one hefty luxury car note monthly payment or 2 high end vehicle car notes. Which is CRAZY for what you get at these storage units! Between the price increase and the despicable service it’s hard to find a reason to stay. We all know how coordinating the time, finding another place to meet our needs and dealing with insanely hot temperatures right now make this process challenging. So I felt an obligation to leave this review before anyone else was left in the situation we are left in. It’s simply not worth your money, your energy or your time dealing with the new management if you can help it at all. I have never had or expected this kind of experience there until someone else took over. The way she has spoken to me on the phone is uncalled for and so outrageous to the point I have had to dismiss myself from the calls. Me having to raise my voice to speak (when I was speaking first) due to being interrupted and rudely talked over and talked down to by this woman is unacceptable. Especially being that it was in regards to error on HER part with payment the first time and again the second time after the price increase. There’s no way I don’t have a credit there at this point. I struggled with how to approach this review being that the previous owner, I believe his name was Dave, was so wonderful. And I’d really like to thank him for that wherever he may be now. He was always a class act, good man and treated people kindly. So that really is appreciated. In my mind, there’s no way he’d approve of how the business is being handled. Now, I just can’t wait to take my business elsewhere. I won’t tolerate this woman and this treatment any longer than I have to. Extraordinarily poor business practice. Terrible, gruff customer service, particularly when securing a unit. Appalling account management. Antiquated payments, including no ability to pay with a credit card or online. And despite all this, zero flexibility on late fees, when we’d not even received an invoice reminder. Their response, regarding the servicing of invoices and matching of payments, and their representative says it all. “the bookkeeping is done out of our home, so it doesnt flow as smoothly as a large town business. ..and yes we are still working on the PR skills at the storage......I dont pay him enough to own him…” I STRONGLY advise avoiding Space Place when thinking about storage.
