An update to my previous 5-star review for Store Safe Camarillo - We recently moved out of the state and of course moved out of our Store Safe Self Storage units in Camarillo. The reason for this second 5-star review is because we truly had an easy time moving out of our unit. Jerry was truly helpful in answering all of our question in preparation for our move-out and it went flawlessly. Our movers were also impressed with the courtesy shown by Jerry and they deal with storage facilities much more than I do. We've had other storage units with other facilities in the past (in and outside of Camarillo) but never have we experienced such high quality service end-to-end! I highly recommend Store Safe Camarillo -- it's truly been a stress-free, secure and overall wonderful experience for us! Thanks again Jerry & team! ... Read more

We just moved out of our house and needed "a lot" of storage space, but we weren't sure how much.  Jerry and Steve have been incredibly helpful in answering our many questions, and making sure that we were NOT stressed about the move into the storage unit(s); they've really been extremely patient with me and have provided me a ton of information allowing me to make the most informed decisions.  Not only are they extremely professional, but they are so friendly -- not just in the beginning either but through and through!  They really care about "the people" that their business serves and I think the two of them could easily write a book on what "customer service" means.  I also believe that Jerry & Steve have put a ton of effort into re-configuring how to do business during this pandemic.  I was very nervous about moving during these trying times, but the communication/paperwork side is EXTREMELY efficient with Store Safe - I practice social distancing and they are more than capable in getting the job done while keeping me comfortable, and this is something that I sincerely appreciate!  They treat and care for me like I was their best friend -- it's been a LONG time since ANY company has made me feel this way.  And to top it off - their units are not only WELL-SECURED, but also EXTREMELY CLEAN...not sure if the buildings are brand new, but we are LOVING it!!!!  Thanks Jerry & Steve!! ... Staff is very helpful, upbeat and knowledgeable. No hassle rental and closing of unit. I stored my things in their climate controlled building and all my items were in proper working condition when I closed my unit out after six months. ... Read more

I have been a Store Safe customer for years and have had 3 different storage units with them. As stated in other reviews, I too long for the days when Mike ran the office. He was personable, fair, easy to communicate with and reasonable. A couple of years ago, he vanished, and customer service since then has been haphazard at best, and terrible on occasion. I usually prepay 6 or 12 months in advance. A year ago December, I signed up for email notifications. Even after prepaying, what I got was dunning notices at the end of January, and then one with a late fee in Feb! It took a few calls to straighten it out. So was really upset this July and August after having paid again a full 6 months in advance in late June to get a “Balance Due” letter with a late fee. I called and whomever I spoke with assured me that they saw I had paid and would straighten it out with their bookkeeper. I asked them to call me to confirm that it had been handled – but no call came. A few weeks later, I had to get into my unit urgently and got there to find that I had been locket out!? Of course, the office had already closed for the day and phone calls rolled to voicemail. I took off from work the next morning, went in, showed proof positive of my payment – they were again saying they couldn’t find it anywhere, and got them to remove the second lock. Again, promises were made that I would be contacted by the bookkeeper to resolve the matter. Today, I received a second Past Due notice, again with another late fee! These folks can’t find their a** with both hands! ... Read more

Store Safe Camarillo was good before they got rid of Mike. Mike was personable, remembered customer's names and loaned the box truck when needed (as long as you replaced the fuel). They attempted to replace Mike with some rude and indifferent robots. They proceeded to screw up their customers by changing their on-line payment system and they refuse to loan the box truck... "one per new move only". The worst part is, I went in there on the 2nd of the month informing them I was moving and they had the nerve to charge me a full months rent..."sorry, we don't prorate rent". I would advise storing my belongings elsewhere and avoiding these clowns. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
