I’m so happy I checked out Public Storage first. The service was wonderful! Esther at the front desk was extremely helpful and caring. She is kind and considerate and awesome to work with! The place is clean and easy access. Thank you for helping me during a difficult time?? ... Read more

We were so lucky to have Scott as the Public Storage rep when we moved in yesterday. Not only was he knowledgeable and efficient (fast!), but he was also warm and funny and went the extra mile for us a couple different times. No one expects spending time at a storage unit to be a highlight of their day, but Scott was so great and we were able to get into our new unit quickly. Thanks for a great experience, Scott! ... I'm truly shocked by the great reviews for this place. I had a horrible experience with this location. Within one year, they raised my rent multiple times (to almost $800 for an 8 X10 unit), forced me to move units in order to lower my rent (which made NO sense to me), the new unit had a lock and door that wouldn't close so my items were at risk of theft for weeks with no response from the office, and to top it all off, the unit LEAKED during a rainy day and water pouring down the wall of the unit ruined several items we had stored in the unit. After no response from management or any compensation for all of my trouble, I left and chose to use Stop N Stor Mini Storage just a few blocks away and have had a great experience so far and am paying a third of the cost of my unit at Public Storage. Only after I moved did the Public Storage owner/manager call to speak with me and said he would refund me due to all of the trouble and lost time and money for my business, but then never replied to me after that phone call. I've waited to write this review, but feel I have to warn others after this horrible experience. ... Read more

The pricing was not ok. Started at ~$70 but after 6 months they increased the price almost monthly, and after 1.5 years I ended up paying $149 per month..!! Felt really predatory. Esther was lovely though, super helpful whenever I needed anything! ... Read more

Esther was very pleasant to deal with, patient and candid about the facilities, and making sure we got a storage unit that fit our needs. Although she handled the customer traffic well, I hope the company can consider hiring additional staff to handle busier days when multiple customers show up and need simultaneous attention. ... Exceptional Service Experience I recently rented a storage unit and, upon my arrival last Sunday with a truck full of belongings, encountered an unexpected issue: the elevator was out of service, and my assigned unit was on the third floor. What could have been a stressful situation was quickly resolved, thanks to Esther’s outstanding professionalism and problem-solving skills. Without hesitation, Esther went above and beyond to find an alternative solution. Their dedication to excellent customer service, coupled with a courteous and helpful demeanor, truly stood out. I highly recommend this location (2587 Marin in San Francisco) to anyone seeking a storage facility with exceptional staff who genuinely prioritize customer needs. A heartfelt thank you to Esther for turning what could have been a frustrating experience into a seamless and stress-free one! ... Read more

The staff at this location is actually great and super-great. My negative review isn't about the staff. The pricing model is absolutely predatory: my rent went up 30% in 14 months -- and I'm not talking about the drop of the "introductory rate" -- I'm talking about a 30% increase in the base rate in 14 months. Totally predatory pricing: and they know they have you since moving stuff is such a pain in the neck. Find someone else, if you can. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
