Title: My Storage Unit Was Broken Into — Wall Breached from Inside I am writing to document a deeply disturbing incident at this Public Storage facility. Between May and early June 2025, our storage unit (D039) was broken into through the shared wall with an adjacent unit (D038). The intruder did not pick any locks or use brute force on the door — they simply punched through the thin interior drywall separating the two units. Upon inspection, it became clear that the wall was made of a single layer of drywall with no plywood, steel mesh, or other structural reinforcement. This made it extremely vulnerable to forced entry. The unit next to ours was found unsecured, and even after notifying management, it remained open for hours. We lost over $20,000 worth of personal and commercial property, yet the partnered insurance provider only offers a $5,000 cap. The current setup leaves customers with a false sense of security, and no visible warning was provided about this serious vulnerability. This is not a typical burglary — it is the result of structural negligence and failure to meet basic building safety standards. We have filed a police report (San Gabriel PD Report #2025-01658), passed the case to legal counsel, and are now considering further action. I share this in hopes of warning others. If you store high-value items at any Public Storage facility, I urge you to inspect the walls between units. ... Read more

The facility is nice and clean. Access is easy with the app. Unfortunately the elevator has been out of order for a few weeks. I am not able to bring heavy items to the second floor. A representative reached out to me. Unfortunately, the offer presented will not help me get my items to the second floor. I'm 70 yrs old and I can't move my items without an elevator. ... Read more

When I first moved in to this public storage from another storage company they gave me a unit that I didn't want because it looked like the lock latch was tampered with. I took another unit and a few weeks later the lock on my unit was tampered with. I asked them to have it fixed. It took so long that I came in and fixed the latch myself but was still not happy with the flimsy locking system. Yesterday early morning the facility was broken into my unit was broken open and the thieves got away with thousands of dollars of DJ equipment. ?? They took everything of value. I would not waste one dollar paying for storage here. Service sucks security is not a priority, and they raise the rates all the time. Do not store your stuff here! Do not store your stuff here! Do not store your stuff here! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Public Storage - 550 South San Gabriel Blvd has to offer. These amenities include Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Public Storage - 550 South San Gabriel Blvd can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 150 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Public Storage - 550 South San Gabriel Blvd come at a variety of prices, starting from $111 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $416 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
