The manager Tom is an amazing man and is outstanding in his job at Public Storage. He always has a smile on his face, friendly personality, and is helpful in my needs. I've been a customer of PS for about 10 years now, and I will continue to remain a customer as long as my business lasts. THANK YOU TOM for all you do for me and all the PS customers. Job well done! ... Read more

A little story about how they don’t care about customer service. Tom at the front is great; however, after 4 years of being a customer the cost had nearly doubled for a 10x15 unit. I asked for a reduction and they gave a 15% discount for 6 months. However, if I transferred units I could save 50%. Same size unit, 50 ft away on the same floor. Only way to save the 50% was to move to an exact same unit. A complete waste of 3 hours on my part when they could have simply re-upped me for the same space. All I can say is if you are looking or anything more than a short-term solution. Look elsewhere, they clearly don’t care about keeping long-term customers. Eventually we will look for a more customer friendly solution. Follow up from 3 months ago: Our old space still has not been rented and sat for 3 months empty. All that hassle for nothing. Now, I receive a rent increase of about 38% to start the New Year. Ending this relationship. Public Storage leadership is clueless... would they like to get something for longer or nothing and bet on the next sucker to become their customer. If this post can save someone else the cost and hassle working with this company, then it has been worth my time to type it. Additional Edit: My experience with Public Storage has been a little frustrating (see above); however, I want to ensure I call a fair game here. The PS team reached out after the previous update and held my rent for another 6 months. I have to say I was impressed by them being proactive. We ended up moving out of our unit, but had nothing to do with PS, but rather it was a luxury that we decided to save on. The move out was smooth and easy. Tom at the front is always friendly and helpful where he can be. If his management would have given Tom some latitude to practice common sense (see above) and just adjust my rate for the unit I was in v. making me move 50 feet, then none of this rating would have never been necessary. Customer experience is about the small things. ... Read more

Based on my experience at this location specifically, i can honestly say it’s been TOP NOTCH all around! With a staff who’s always been very welcoming & helpful, or the highly competitive prices regardless of what size the unit is, this location checks all the boxes! For me personally however, my hands down favorite amenity they just started offering is the 24hr access provided for those tenants who really desire the ultimate option of convenience…doesn’t matter what time of day or night, if you want the ability to access your unit WHEN you want, now you can! Not to mention, having this luxury is literally only $20 extra!???????? ... Read more

Tom and the team at Public Storage are great to work with, I highly recommend their location. Tom is the nicest and most helpful person I’ve dealt with in customer service. When I was unloading they noticed one of my work boots rolled under my vehicle. An employee came out and notified me which I really appreciate. I don’t think I would’ve noticed and could have lost an important piece of my PPE for work. Thank you, Tom and the Parker team! ... Read more

Overall I’ve been very happy about the service. Recently I needed to downgrade my service by moving into a smaller space. Your agent at Northgate location in CO (Clarissa) was extremely helpful and made the change seem less and easy and even managed to get me a better rate! This was all done in a matter of minutes which given the time crunch I was in, was extremely helpful! A+ rating! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Public Storage - 16840 Northgate Drive, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 16840 Northgate Drive for specific restrictions and recommendations.
