Terrific experience renting a truck here. Everything was ready to go; facility manager was SUPER polite and helpful; easy return process later the same day. Facility is sparkling clean and they did not pull any shenanigans with extra charges unlike the redneck ripoff on Rowley in Winsted. Definitely recommend you rent your UHaul vehicle here instead of the other local location which is a pit! ... Read more

I rented a U-Haul truck and was given a faulty truck. While trying to resolve the issue I was given all excuses and a lot of attitude. The lady in the office was nice but the guy who looked at the truck was very unprofessional. All he did was give me a lot of attitude and take no ownership for having a truck with a back door that doesn't shut. Raising his voice to me, talking down to me, just disrespectful to me. "But it's Monday morning, you can't expect me to know every little problem.". That's what he told me. Do your job, man. I recommend renting your U-Haul elsewhere. ... Read more

I've been renting from New Hartford Self Storage for a few years now and could not be more satisfied. The indoor storage facility is climate controlled and is always clean. Also, the professionals who work there are always pleasant, friendly and helpful. I just recently started renting an additional unit from them because I wouldn't trust any other place with my belongings! ... Read more

Myself and my children rented 2 storage spaces. We bought a new house and moved all our property out and the kids kept their storage, which we had for quite sometime. My daughter, who is 20, got some items from her unit and had an empty box that she set by the dumpsters, the box was about the size of a shoebox. She had no idea that you couldn’t do that. The company sent me an email advising that it is not allowed and there are signs stating that. Since it was our first time, there would be no charge and it was a warning not to do it again, she didn’t. I went back to look for the sign, the sign is there advising not to put things by the dumpsters, however the headline in big letters says: MOVING OUT? .......... Since she was NOT moving out, she didn’t read the sign. We built a shed and moved the belongings out, I was suppose to receive my deposit back of $50, when after a month I never heard from them or received a check, I called to make sure they had my new address. They did have the correct one, but they said we would not receive our deposit back since my daughter left a small empty box by the dumpsters. I explained that the email said it was a warning and we would not be charged that time but if it happened again, we would be charged a fee. Not only all that, but my daughter went back and removed the box. They had to do NOTHING for $50. I will continue to post this review on all sites I can find and then I will file a complaint with the BBB and UHaul. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY, you will regret it. Customer service is awful too. ... I've been using this facility for a few years now. It's clean, dry, all inside an old warehouse type building. There's individual storage units of various sizes, all with easy, roll-up doors. There's a loading dock in back, as well as a drive up ramp, to make access simple for any size vehicle. Access is controlled, to the building, by electronic locks. The one thing I have been unhappy with, was no 24 hour access. Sometimes I can't get there before they close, so that's kind of frustrating. I've considered moving to a different storage company, recently, because of this. I don't live close by, so this makes it somewhat inconvenient for me to get in, when I need to, and can. That's really the only complaint, I have. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
