Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 22831 Preakness Blvd, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I’ve been having a good experience with Public Storage, but today even better at the N Nebraska location in Tampa, FL. The Rep in office understood my concerns and solved them. She was very knowledgeable about my questions and the company. I was able to move into a new unit and move in smoothly. She made sure it was in the same isle of my old unit. ... Read more

Extremely Disappointed – Long-Time Tenant Treated Poorly I’ve rented a 10x10 unit here for years, even before Public Storage took over. Since then, the experience has gone downhill fast. My rent skyrocketed to $300/month, while they were advertising the same unit for $52/month online. When I called to speak with a manager, no one got back to me—though I did get a token $25/month discount for a few months, conveniently after a $50/month price hike. The doors frequently malfunction, and the worst part is how poorly long-time tenants are treated. When I finally gave notice, the manager called me—only after seeing my move-out date. I told him I found the same size unit elsewhere for a fraction of the price, and he basically shrugged it off. No attempt to retain a loyal customer. Public Storage is gouging renters. Avoid this place. ... Read more

This has been a horrible customer experience from the start. We are still waiting on the refund for the services never provided. Unit was rented mid-March. We showed up on the specified date to move in to find the doors broken. There are other poor reviews about broken doors from month ago. This should have already been addressed or a better backup plan in place. There is only one set of doors into the facility. The lack of redundancy is a critical single point of failure. We tried calling for support as no one was on site. A hour or so later, we finally received a call back. We had already moved on to a competitor up the road. We spoke to Pam who cancelled the unit but said I had to call back and speak to a guy for a refund. I asked her to provide a better customer experience and get the refund issued with the respective internal party. She said she would try, but that we would have to follow-up. I again stressed the importance of customer service and the follow-up should come from them to me letting me know it was addressed. A couple weeks later, no refund has been initiated. The general support number tries to deflect calls from live agents. The local number also tries to deflect as well and usually goes to voicemail. I spoke to a male at the location today and he stated all refunds have to go through the main number. It is seriously easier to just dispute the charge directly with the credit card company at this point. The poor customer service appears to be systemic. ... Read more

This location is suffering from extreme lack of maintenance, front entry doors don't operate properly, and allow anyone in. Both elevators were out of service for almost two months. This cost me hundreds extra in movers cost to have items moved from upstairs. Avoid this location, and store elsewhere, there is plenty of other options in the surrounding area. ... Read more

At the beginning of the year the rates increased by 33%. Today (7/3/24) the sliding doors are jammed. Will there be access after office hours. Who knows? Who cares? Find storage elsewhere. Update 7/10/24 Still no access after 6AM. Public Storage you're NOT holding up your end of the contractual agreement. It appears your property manager isn't concerned about this obvious problem. In March a security guard attempted to prevent access after normal hours. He was told to kick rocks. The management said they would call the DM, and yet still no word. Precisely what are we (customers) paying for?!? We are being penalized for your broken doors. Which is your problem, now made ours. Stop taking advantage of the customers or compensate our accounts for this massive inconvenience. UPDATE SEPT 3 2024 The sliding doors are still broken. It's been two months. What exactly is going on PS? Today for the second time some childish employee (probably Alex) covered my lock with stickers... again. Precisely what message you're trying to send I cannot say. Unless it's an attempt to confirm your status as a nitwit His non commitment to customer service is astounding. I hope you enjoy hearing from your district manager. You have zero empathy for the people who are forced to use the side door. Public Storage, this a very bad look for your company. Please find better representatives. Update September 24 2024 The sliding doors were finally fixed. I believe they made it a whole week. They're once again busted. This isn't a secure facility. And the property manager (Alex) is once again committed to lackluster customer service. I'll be calling the 800 number again. Go elsewhere for your storage needs. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Public Storage - 22831 Preakness Blvd has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
