Read some helpful reviews of Midgard Self Storage at 27300 Catherine Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

If you value your property, do not store it here. I lost over $16,000 in stolen items after my enclosed trailer was broken into twice in six days at this Midgard location. Both incidents involved forced entry and required police reports with the Lake County Sheriff and Leesburg Police Department. The most alarming part is that the main gate had been broken and stuck open since May 14th, and it was still down past May 28th — the day of my second burglary. Staff confirmed this directly. For nearly two full weeks, the property was left completely unsecured, allowing non-customers to freely enter, roam the facility multiple times, and plan their break-ins. I will be uploading photos of the broken gate so people can see exactly how exposed this facility was during that time. Midgard advertises “A-class security” and “bright lighting,” but the reality is the opposite. There are major camera blind spots, including the exact area where my trailer was stored. During the first break-in, the suspects were on the property for almost an hour without anyone noticing. Staff also admitted they’ve had ongoing trespassing issues, including people entering from a nearby homeless shelter and police having to remove individuals from the property. And here’s what customers really need to know: When something happens, Midgard will not share any security footage with you, even though it’s your property that was stolen. I was told the cameras are “for their use only.” My detective had to obtain a subpoena just to view the footage. Even after all that, the video quality was so poor that police couldn’t make out a description of the suspect. The lack of accountability is unbelievable. When I tried to speak with someone in corporate, I was told they “don’t take calls” and was pushed off to their claims department. The claims department then told me to use my own insurance, offering no support whatsoever. They strictly enforce the contract you sign — the one that says they aren’t responsible for theft — even when the theft occurred during a period where they knowingly left the facility unsecured. Despite the clear negligence involved, they offered zero compensation for my loss. What makes this even worse is that Midgard never notified customers that the main gate was broken. They knew theft was an issue in the area. They knew the gate had been down for weeks. They knew the property was exposed. And they still didn’t have the respect to alert the people paying to store their belongings there. This is now the second major incident I’ve experienced at this same facility within six months. Between the broken gate, the lack of surveillance coverage, the refusal to release footage, the misleading security claims, the poor communication, the contract loopholes they hide behind, and the complete lack of corporate accountability, this facility fails to provide even basic security. I cannot recommend this location to anyone. ... Read more

Apparently the property manager for this facility is never on site. Customer service is horrible at best, they have a very lousy automated system and if it fails to work properly, the he live agents have zero way of getting anything done. I miraculously have a secondary lock on my unit that doesn’t show up in their “DaVinci Lock” system so I have no way to unlock it and since it’s not logg d into my account, customer service can’t even verify it, hence, no unlock code. ... I rented a unit here just a few months ago, and now they’ve notified me of a sudden 30% price increase starting next month. This kind of bait-and-switch pricing feels unfair—they wait until you’re settled in and then raise rates, assuming it’s too inconvenient to move. There was no mention that such a sharp increase was coming when I signed up. It shows a lack of customer appreciation and transparency. I’ve already given notice to vacate and hope others think twice before renting here. **Update** Mary from Midgard contacted me and asked what they could do for me to remove this review, and she apologized that the original person I signed with didn’t explain they were giving me a limited time discounted rate. The only problem is that they did not, and the increase notice referred only to “cost increases and Market analysis" for the reason of the more than 30% increase, so let me add dishonest and opportunistic to this review. ... Securty sucks. No cameras around. Cut my battery cables and stold my battery and solar panels twice in 2 months. Homeless camp very near in the woods, and they hop the fence a take stuff for their tents. Police can not do much. Like the rest of the country since criminals have more rights than working people who follow the law. Examples have to be set. Cut the hand off when catching them steeling, and it will stop. They will think twice because they commit a crime. On Nov 25 they broke into my storage compartment and took stuff again. And they raised my rate. Don't buy a camper unless you find a good storage place. ... Read more

Needed a climate controlled unit. Went to this place. Spoke with the virtual manager and made arrangements for a unit. After receiving my code to get in the wife and I went to look at the unit. Upon entry to the hallway it was immediately noticeable that it was HOT. I mean it was hotter inside than outside. I felt the diffuser in the hallway, no air. I mean none. Closed up the unit and walked to three other entrances and they were also hot. These buildings are sheet metal and no insulation with what looks like a 1-1 1/2 ton unit per section. Under the best of conditions that tiny air conditioner would never adequately cool the spaces. Went back to the virtual manager and told her about the issue. She stated that she would have someone look at the issue. I had already made up my mind that this was not going to work because waiting for a fix wasn't going to work as I needed to have a seriously conditioned environment and this clearly was not the place. I told the manager that I wanted to cancel the contract and she obliged although I have yet to receive a confirmation email for the cancellation. This is an assumption, but after surveying the other units and finding the same hot conditions, I'm willing to bet there is no one on site for maintenance or any other customer service so these issues go unnoticed for long periods of time. I mean how often does one visit their storage? Anyway, if you need a climate controlled storage facility, this isn't the place. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Midgard Self Storage - 27300 Catherine Street has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and First Floor Access. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Midgard Self Storage - 27300 Catherine Street can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 250 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Midgard Self Storage - 27300 Catherine Street come at a variety of prices, starting from $64 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $385 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
