This storage unit has always been so helpful! I have been here for a couple years now & have always had a great experience and helpful staff, especially Jolene! She helped me with my lock when I forgot my keys and educated me on some tips at keeping my keys in useful areas so I don’t loose them! Even gave me an envelope for them! Thank you Jolene! ... Stay away from this facility. Managers are the most dishonest people. Listed storage for auction. Removed temper tag replaced with another one went through stuff taken all the good items. When we came to clean unit only trash was left. Acted weird trying to solve the situation to come clean if the situation telling us they will give deposit but keep auctioned amount so corporate doesn’t see that thefts work there. Still didn’t process our refund. Be cautious about this facility you easily can be trapped in similar situation with stolen items from auctioned unit. If you bid too high you will be left without money if you notice issue and refuse to clean unit which no longer contains anything valuable. Still trying to reach them so thefts process refund. Will report them if not solved this week. ... Read more

Absolutely amazing. Rebecca was very helpful and understanding. Especially since we are going through a hard time and even my kids were upset and she made them all happy and calm just for the moment and that was more helpful than anything. ... Read more

My unit was badly wet due to the most recent storm that occurred here in the Hillsborough County area. I had not been to my unit until a month after the storm going to check up on my belongings due to other damages occurred at my home. When I did visit my units one that was damaged it still had water in it every where on most of my belongings. I had not received a phone call from the storage facility informing me of the situation, I was left in the dark that units period had gotten flooded due to the storm drainage system in that area. I was informed that a flood had occurred due to the storm and the water was backed up badly and damaged several units including mine. Up until yesterday 2-24-2025 I’m still trying to get in contact with someone after providing proof (plenty of pictures) to an email that I had been provided from the front office no response months later. On the day that I visited my unit I took multiple drenched items that belonged to me into the front office to show them my belongings were wet. I also invited the store employee Louise to my unit to see for himself the damage that was done by the flood from the hurricane that occurred a few months ago and I was totally shocked and unaware of the units being flooded out. I was informed just yesterday that “mold is not covered”but I wouldn’t have mold inside of my unit if the storm didn’t cause water damage. A store clerk at Thornton’s Gas Station clarified to me that same day of the drainage system at the SmartStop Storage Facility the Riverview location, The fruit stand beside the Thornton gas station, they were all effected by the drainage system malfunction. The clerk stated the drain system was not allowing water to flow through which caused once again a area wide backup. I will continue to reach out to Terri with the claims department trying to find out what exactly does the insurance thats mandatory upon renting a storage unit that’s paid for monthly, what does it actually covers???? All of my young Marine son clothes that he left with me before being stationed, also his personal belongings were damaged and that’s not fair if nothings covered and it was due to the storm and the drainage system not properly working. The day I found my unit with water damage I also saw so many other customers carrying all of their belongings to on site dumpers that had been placed for all of the damaged belongings from inside of the affected units. The unit that was damaged is not climate controlled, my 2nd storage unit I have at this same location is and none of my items in that unit was damaged it was the outside unit that was destroyed by water from the storm. I will be getting all of my undamaged items from both units and cut ties with such a to me careless company that only wants gain for them and do their customers wrong when it’s time to actually lead a helping hand. I am paying for storage insurance and it was nothing I could have done to not let my items get damaged. My son is out serving the COUNTRY and he’s coming him to visit next month since almost a 1 year of me not seeing him and all of his new clothes are molded due to water damage inside of my unit that’s insured and it’s mandatory. No one wanted to provide contact information to file a claim it was if it’s a secret and Heather or Louise couldn’t tell customers that units were damaged due to Hurricane Milton. When I called a month after emailing pictures no response was received from the email address provided, I was told o we and over you have to wait on communication from the email only to file a claim. It’s very frustrating and difficult when you can’t reach a live person months after months but they still want ontime payment for a water damaged unit. ... Read more

I have all my household goods here waiting on a new house and suspect they are all ruined from water damage, mold and mildew. This facility left all the access doors propped open during hurricane Milton and every unit sustained damage due to massive amounts of wind driven water into the buildings Units were inaccessible to customers for 5 days after the hurricane due to no staff on the premises. The place smells of rodents now. I am sure many rats flocked to the open building for refuge from the storm. Almost 3 months since the hurricane and the facility remains unsecured with gates that do not close, perimeter lighting that does not work and I suspect security cameras that do not work as well. Very little recourse as the facility staff is useless and no support or communication from the company. ... Read more

We purchased a unit in August 2023 to remodel our entire house. Now after Hurricane Milton in November 2024 knocked out the power for almost a week all of the 2nd floor smelled like moisture and mildew, we opened our unit and there was mold on all of our things as I suspect the unit next to ours as well because it was all along the ceiling where an a/c pipe was running. Without an inspection being done they refuse to take any responsibility and I now have to remove all of our non-recoverable belongings and throw them out. Manager “Luis” refused to give me corporates phone number as he “didnt know it”. This is extremely devastating to our family of 5 with 3 small children under 6 years old as weve lost all of our things due to nothing wrong on our part and I will be actively pursing a civil case against the negligence of this company. I have posted this review on the BBB website as well. I was told the business was going to contact me and still have YET to be contacted. I will be calling the district manager myself first thing in the morning and moving forward with my lawyer if I don’t hear from anyone regarding my damaged items! ... Read more

Be sure you ask about insurance.. these units are prone to flood. I got a unit back in July and after the recent hurricanes my unit flooded and all my furniture got ruined.. I was never offered insurance and when I went to the front desk to let them know what happened they pretended like mine was the only unit that flooded.. i spoke with multiple people that had units there and they all told me there’s flooded as well and the people working here were less than helpful ... Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
