Moved in and immediately they increased the rent. Not 5,10% but almost 40%!!! I have way too much insurance already but they’d constantly force their own junk insurance onto my bills and we’d have to resend them proof of insurance(ours is paid yearly so no it didn’t lapse). Hoops to jump through such as 30 day notice before moving out which we honored and they still say we owe for a month. Absolute nightmare. As if it’s not hard enough relocating your business and we got entangled with these monsters. Stay far away — you’ll regret ever coming here. Don’t be fooled by their initial quote, it’s bait and switch. ... Read more

If you have any other option, use it. This company is not a good company. They raise the price for storage every other month for no reason whatsoever. My payments went from $120 a month for my 2 small units to over $300 before tax. In December (2025) they signed one of my units up for cancelation (without my approval or knowledge) and neglected to take my automatic payment. When I went up to the facility to find out the problem, and everyone (me, man on site, and virtual customer service representative) realized it was their fault, they still charged me a late fee. When it was only late because of their mess up. I’d been set up on automatic payment since late 2023 and never missed a single one. Also, after requiring you to have your own lock (or you have to rent one from them) they now put another lock, of theirs, on your units. So they can lock you out of your units whenever they want. They no longer have actual customer service on site, either. The person there is only able to take your payment and keeps an eye on the property maintenance. Trying to look on the computer is no longer an option. They have to direct you over to the virtual customer service portal. My last complaint is maybe the biggest one. They don’t tell you that you have to put in a 30 day notice to vacate their property. Letting them charge an extra months payment on an emptied and cleaned out unit. Then, after you’re finally allowed to end your contract, they start sending you text messages offering you cheaper prices. So, if you have any other storage option available to you, go there. Don’t use Midgard Self Storage. *I have proof and multiple witnesses of all the above. **Update: Donna from Midgard listened to everything, today (Feb 20, 2026), went to her supervisor’s with my situation, and somehow got me back both the late fees (she informed me there was more than one, and I learned I need to speak with my bank), and the months rent I paid on my vacant unit. I promised I’d edit my review adding the update and that I’d give her a cookie if I ever see her. She asked for stars ?? ?? ?? ?? ??, and Donna deserves them all. As I told Donna on the phone, the issues still occurred and instead of working with me then, it took a public negative review to get actual customer service. I don’t feel right fully changing or deleting my original review, but I will gladly edit it and give Donna all the praise for actually listening, explaining things I didn’t know, and going to her supervisor’s on my behalf. I will also move my initial star rating from 1 star to 3 stars for the supervisors willingness to making things right. ... Read more

Bek was very helpful to us as we rented storage and then didn't need it. She went to extra effort to prevent us from having to make an inconvenient trip to the location to close out our contract. She listened and acted rather than saying "that's just the way it is". ... Read more

Scammers storage facility beware! I moved in on the 31 and because the ridiculous hidden policy says the rent is prorated they wanted payment the very next day after it was already a struggle getting it there dealing with my mother just dying. They are crooks I have a unit there and wished I never fell for the lies cheap cooperate tape I do not recommend! Go to midgaurd and get ready to be scammed and them trying to hit your credit card without notice or care. Beware minimum experience in the industry bad attitude no patience ... Read more

Clean facility and relatively secure. Don’t waste your money paying for “climate control” though. Facility needs to upgrade its HVAC system as it clearly cannot keep up with Georgia weather like other facilities can. Love move items while it’s 93° INSIDE a building. ... Read more

Just got a unit and April the property manger is beyond helpful and sweet. April made us feel very welcomed and offered to sweep the unit for us after she showed us how to get in. She answered all my silly little questions and was jumping at the ready to help when I got confused about something on the paperwork. April has made sure to be more than hospitable to us every time I come by she makes sure every unit is secure and safe. The unit itself was clean and well maintained. We were camping at Tugaloo State Park in Lavonia when I ran across this storage yard for my 40’ fifth wheel. I stopped in to check out their rates and the covered storage. I was greeted by who I believe to be the new owner. I was extremely impressed with the rates, the condition in which the area was maintained and most of all the covered storage had power for my RV. I haven’t been able to find all this since I moved from the Gainesville area. I plan on posting some pictures of the covered storage once I get back from my trip. I rented two spots so I can leave my truck hooked up to my RV. So far I’m extremely impressed with their professionalism and facility. Also I want to make mention that all the paperwork was sent to me via email before I even left the storage yard. Customer service at its best! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
