Read some helpful reviews of Hoover Hwy I-80 Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I had two climate-controlled units here, one for over a year, and the other for over three years. This place is located about one minute off of I-80, and is secure and clean. Anytime I had a problem or question, their response was quick and addressed the issue. I highly recommend Hoover Highway Storage if you are looking for storage in the Iowa City area. ... Read more

Very pleasant experience with the company, when I originally got the unit back in July 2020 I had planned to only use it for a month or so but ended up being a tenant til this last weekend. The price was fair, the unit was clean ( never had any signs of bugs or other concerns ), be it cold as heck or hot as heck outside the unit was probably in the 70's or so but never a concern. Payments went through instantly and I have only ever had to talk to them twice, once when getting the unit and now that I no longer need the unit. I've had other units in Iowa and Arizona to which this was a very pleasant experience. I am only leaving the unit because I moved over 40 miles away and no longer need it. If I did need it I would still be utilizing their facility. I strongly recommend them to anyone, short or long term. ... Read more

I used their services to store some stuff for a few months while changing my living situation. Nice location, very clean and well kept facility. Overall would recommend them. One thing I do have to note, however. I had the unit about a couple months before actually putting items in it. When the time came that I wanted to put some stuff in, I go to punch in my code and it doesn't work. I tried signing into the online portal, it acted as if I never had an account. This was on a weekend, so all I could do was call their phone # and leave a message. Thankfully, they got back to me within the hour and gave me a temporary code, so I was able to get my stuff in that day. After the fact, when trying to address why I didn't have an account, I was told to just sign up for a new unit. I had to present my lease, and screenshots of my credit card statement to prove that I did have a unit before (the issue ended up being due to the fact they were switching systems and my account didn't carry over properly). After that they remedied the issue and I was able to use the unit normally for the rest of the time I needed it. Because I had to be a bit pushy to get my issue resolved I have to dock a star, but otherwise was satisfied with the service they provided. ... Read more

The wife and I were looking to sell our house and needed a storage unit, it was the weekend so I wasn't sure I'd be able to get one. I showed up at the facility looking to use their self-service kiosk but it was out of order. I needed a unit ASAP as I was looking to store some boxes we'd been packing and had a showing Monday. I called the phone number got and answering machine, and feeling defeated left a voicemail thinking I wouldn't get a unit until Monday. Marty contacted me within an hour or so saying that he could very likely process the order remotely and push my credentials to the facility. Marty's service was astounding on more than one occasion! Facilities were clean, modern, very well secured, with copious amounts of surveillance. I felt the price for what I got was more than fair, and location was key. A+ I'd use it again if I were still in the area. Thanks Marty. ... Read more

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.
