The place is always neat and clean. I have never had any problems with my storage unit. I know that stuff is safe and secure here. I have recommended this place to a couple people that I know and they agree on the service Devon Self Storage provides. The sale associate(s) are very helpful and friendly. No problem is too big or too small for them to handle. Im glad I went with Devon Self Storage as the place to storage my belongs. ... Read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I live on disabilty so I looked for the only place I could afford under $80 a month. They were charging me $67 a month I paid every month and now I wake up sick waiting to get food now that my fever finally went away. I go to check my account and they took $216!!! I call and they say rent increase!! So at 6 months expect them to increase your rent by over $100!!! and the first month they charged me $82 and I called and asked why they charged me a $15 fee because he said I didn’t have insurance and I told them I told you that I had insurance they asked me to show proof I showed them proof that I had insurance. I asked him if I can get the $15 back and they said no! Do not go here! I might lose all of my furniture now ... Read more

Your items are not safe, they were never safe. They've had dozens of break ins at multiple times over the last year, upper management is indifferent, not only will, they raise your rent 200% to 400% but theyll make you pay rent the same month your broken into. The majority of the 300 reviews are for a previous company that no longer owns it. U.S storage only cares about squeezing as much money out of you as possible Oh and if you do rent here, be careful, the cameras dont cover much and they constantly have people sleeping in the stairwells and the halls ... A couples of weeks ago I had a minor issue with my unit and I came in to ask if I could move. Hope was very nice and said that she would have to ask her manager. One thing I liked that Hope did was took matters in her own hand. She realized that reaching out to a manager was not needed and made the best decision. Everything does not need to be ran by a manager if you can resolve the issue. My problem was resolved and I was happy with the decision that Hope made. Hope listens and gives great feedback. ... I walked in to purchase some moving supplies and ended up buying about 15 large boxes, spending around $60. The man at the register looked absolutely miserable and didn’t offer any help—not even a simple greeting or friendly attitude. I understand that helping customers carry things might not be part of his job, but basic kindness and customer service should be. Instead, I felt like I was bothering him just by walking in. If you’re in the business of selling to people, treating them like an inconvenience isn’t the way to go. ... Read more

I told Mr. Eric I was going to be late for August. I told him I can make the payment on August 9, 2026. He said he will see about getting the late fee waived. I appreciate him understanding. Eric was very nice and knowledgeable. I also had water damage in my unit. I took a picture and emailed it to Eric. He said he was sending it right over to his manager. He said I will try to get back to you today if not as soon as possible. He was very professional. ... Read more

So when I came to rent a storage unit here I had no idea what I was doing. However the person working there Jim C. was amazing. He was very knowledgeable in figuring out what size I needed in order to get all my stuff moved in. Even though I was stressed out he put me at ease and made the whole situation simple. Moved my wine here 3 years ago mostly because I knew the previous property mangers (Joanne/Humberto), their knowledge of the wine storage business, and focus on customer service. Shortly after the property was purchased by U.S. Storage, my monthly rate nearly doubled. However, the main reason I moved out was the area where my wine was stored was at 77 degrees vs. 55 degrees which is the proper temperature for long term wine storage (this is also specified on their website - " The temperature is kept between a range of 50 to 60 degrees"). There was no email advising tenants of the situation (cooling unit malfunction) no temporary AC unit that could keep the temperature at a proper temperature range to avoid spoilage(of the wine). I asked Andrew to send an email to tenants advising of the situation, nothing was done. I moved out that evening. ... Read more

Noel is awesome and makes this business 5 stars. This is old school customer service. Helpful, kind, and genuine. I just moved 60 cases of wine seamlessly to my storage unit. He equipped it with racking he mounted while I was out of town. He helped me get the wine close to my destination, and I did the rest. He responds quickly to questions and makes it happen. I have nothing but praise for him. In this world that has forgotten how to treat a customer, he is a refreshing breath of fresh air. And, my unit is awesome because of him. I will be a long term client. ... Read more

BEST wine storage in Chicago! This is a hidden gem in Old Town. Everything you can ask for in off site wine storage with excellent customer service. Joanna and Humberto are incredibly helpful and make for a wonderful experience. Humberto helped me find the perfect unit and then went above and beyond by setting up shelving and designing the perfect cellar set up (see first picture for end result). Both Joanna and Humberto have offered first class service on every interaction and even stayed late after close to help me set up the cellar. All units are very clean and spacious with a cool old Chicago vibe. They have recently expanded and offering brand new wooden units. I’ve tested temp and humidity independently and consistently comes out to 55 degrees with 65% humidity. Look no further if you are in need of wine storage!! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
