I tried to rent a storage at this place. It kept saying that the unit was no longer available. This was after I entered my card number information in twice. I do not recommend this place of establishment. I have been having a hard time of speaking to someone so that I can resolved this debit situation. This is the 2nd month that Storage of America has debited my card. I do not have a storage unit at this place. I am a consumer who is trying to get a refund of the charges that was taken. ... I've been held here for over an hour, I have called all numbers, I've chatted all the customer service online. This is not good. I do pay my bills as at when due, I see no reason why I can't have access or have someone help me out.. ... Read more

So I have 3 units in herea few nights ago my storage unit was broken into from the empty storage unit next to mine the unscrewed and peeled back the metal sheeting and got into my unit and stole all my power tools and a one of a kind racing jacket. When I called I was unable to reach anyone. When I was able to a few hours later I was given minimal info on steps moving forward. I don't blame the manager, I blame corporate for lack of training the employees. ... Read more

I can’t believe they’d ask me to write a review but since they asked…. let me tell you about my experience with Storage of America. Last October they called me and said they’d had a break in. My lock had been cut off and they had locked it back until I could get there. When I got back to town I met them and it had in fact been broken into and things were stolen. In total about $2-3k worth of items were stolen. After speaking to Jose, the area manager, I was informed they were not going to honor my insurance claim (policy bought through them) because I “didn’t have the right type of lock on the until”. I did but that doesn’t seem to matter to them. They also told me they had the break in on CCTV but have not been able to come up with it in almost 3 months. It’ll be easier to list what they don’t have. Here’s a list. Police report from initial break in Photos of break in Photos of my lock cut on the ground The lock itself (they said they threw it away) Photos of my unit as it was found with the lock off Anything backing up their claim it was the wrong lock (probably because I know it was the correct lock) Records of who was on site the night of the break in CCTV footage which they claimed to have but it still hasn’t been sent to me or the detective. I’m curious if they’ve done this to anyone else. This is not a solicitation but if they’ve also done something similar to you please post your experience in a review. ... Read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Do not rent a unit from here. We rented a unit, and it was broken into less than 24 hours after placing our items in a unit. We even had 2 locks on the unit. Management could care less. After trying several numbers, and leaving messages no one from management would call us.The police detective is having the same problem. The police want video footage, and no one can give it to them. The storage customer service say's the property manager will call, but they never do. I highly recommend you DO NOT RENT from them!!!!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.
