Read some helpful reviews of Store Space Self Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Updated to my original 1 star review: The store manager got in touch with me and walked me through how they prorate the 50% discounts over 60 days. So they stick to their word on the 2 months at a discounted rate. I wish the communication was better upfront, because they did tell me I'd be paying full price for August. But they were great about following back up with me after I pointed out the issue. Original review: If you rent from here I would make sure you talk with someone who is physically at the office. I'm moving from 2 time zones away so when I called I got their corporate call center and rented through them. Well they assured me that even though I was renting at the end of June that the 50% for 2 months promo would still count for July and August. Well of coarse the next morning I get a call from the local office and they tell me that's not the case and I'd have to pay full price for August. Instead of making it right they of coarse blamed me the customer for not calling during normal business hours, as if I'm supposed to know about the disconnect between their local and corporate office! Typical BS from these companies, point the finger at everyone but themselves. ... Read more

I know they can’t cater to every individual’s specific needs but I do have 3 complaints. 1) the price is steep, especially considering…2) I can’t access it 24/7 (coded gate is locked from 10p-6a) & 3) when I stay in my unit later than 10 or when it is even slightly dark out (which is most times I’m there), it takes me 3-4 times as long to do what I am there for (sorting thru 40+ years of my life in unorganized boxes due to a botched move) bc the motion-sensor overhead light only detects movement by the doorway so every 5-ish mins I have to trudge back to the door in mostly darkness, wave a rug into the air a few times to catch wherever the sensor is pointed up above me. Positives: 1) It’s a good location for anywhere remotely close to downtown Cincy & it’s on the edge of Newport so I don’t have to drive around thru the city to get there. 2) It seems secure, I’ve never worried about the safety of my belongings & I like that the gate codes are randomly generated so nobody could try to just guess it based on personal info. 3) The lot is large enough for easy maneuverability of multiple vehicles at a time. ... A couple years ago i moved from an apartment and into a house but the house was fully furnished so i rented a storage locker here on the second floor with the intent of using everything for my next apartment. I had a bunch of clothes, a couch, a king and queen size mattress and plenty of other things to have a fully equipped apartment when it was time to go. I got a locker on the second floor along with the protection plan they offer giving me a peace of mind. Shortly after signing the contract the rate went up and over a year in they had a water pipe burst and flood my second floor unit damaging and ruining all my things. The claims department and the employees on site are separate entities so I have no complaints with the on site employees. But the claims department didn’t seem to follow our contract regarding reimbursement. They used this arbitrary formula to calculate depreciation of assets even if the life of the item was in the unit. Essentially I’m here to say if I would’ve anticipated this outcome I would’ve just thrown everything away when I moved as it would’ve saved me money. The reimbursement they provided was a joke and disrespectful and took months with little reply or coordination. They said there was no phone number to call and everything had to be done via email. I’m not one to write negative reviews but wanted to let the public know that they either need to get their own insurance or just know you’re about to be swindled any angle they can. ... Read more

A couple of months ago, I received a late fee for the auto pay, not working as it was supposed to. I had the money in the account however, your system did not pull it. I was told I would be refunded the late fee, however that never came. When I requested to speak to a manager, I was told I would most likely not hear anything back upon my request. Which I did not hear anything. Whenever I would call up to the office, it would go to voicemail. It was very rare. Someone would answer the phone so on multiple occasions, I drove to the Newport location and found no one in the office. At one point I came up at 9 AM on a weekday and did not get an answer at the door. I returned back at 10 AM and still no answer at the door, I returned at 11 AM and found another customer sitting in the lot who said he had been waiting for over an hour for someone to arrive on site just as I was getting ready to leave, A employee showed up and stated she was on lunch. Either that is a REALLY long lunch or they take countless lunches. This is by far the worst storage company I have ever dealt with! When we first started renting I’m pretty sure there was people living in the lockers because we would see people walking in and out with sleeping bags on their back than a few months later there was a note posted on the doors saying “if caught living in lockers you will be kicked out and possibly charges pressed”. This is a piss poor storage company with NO accountability! ... Read more

Was planning on a big move next month & I've been frustrated from not being able to speak to someone on site at other facilities. Pleasantly surprised when Tracy answered the phone. She answered every question amd addressed every concern. I was not ready to make the commitment of a reservation because I dont know when/if job transfer will happen, but I just wanted to make sure someone was made aware of what a pleasure she was on the phone. If the move happens, you'll definitely be hearing from me :) ... Read more

I have dealt with a lot of storage unit facilities, what sets this one apart is the absolute attention to detail from the staff, Tracy and Terry. I was greeted and warmly welcomed and I did not feel like I was just a number on a storage unit. Tracy has a lot of knowledge inside the storage facility itself and that was extremely comforting. Terry is the type of person that will go out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and help you in any way that he can. If you’re looking for a storage facility that cares and will actually be there this is the one to go to. I highly recommend this storage facility. ... Read more

This rating is for Terry in the front office. Any time I have ever needed help, he has been absolutely AMAZING! If you need anything go to HIM! For the storage facility itself, I wish it was open 24 hours for people who need to access their unit at any time. There was a major shortage of carts but they did just order new ones. Other than that, it’s a good storage facility. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
