Read some helpful reviews of Storage of America at 4002 South Dort Hwy, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Storage of America was dependable, clean, safe, secure and had excellent customer service. I felt secure knowing my property was watched by cameras and only people with a code could get in the facility. When check out and out-processing time came around the staff helped salt the outside so we wouldn’t fall moving stuff to the trucks. I will always recommend this storage. ... Read more

Was there past weekend. Found mouse shit in my unit, all over my stuff. Going to look for a new place to store. This place used to be really nice. Update: Came to our units this past weekend. Found two dead mice in the traps we set. More mouse shit on stuff. Can't drive through the aisle AGAIN. And rent continues to increase. I will be clearing my stuff out of here into a different place. I can't deal with the constant damage on top of the increased rent, not to mention the women's bathroom is just disgusting. Where are the people who work here? I never see anyone in the office. I'm done. ... Read more

Rented a large unit, showed them I carried my own renters insurance, they still charge me every month for insurance despite how many times I've given them copies of my insurance. When I rented the place last year (2023), my rental was $140 pluse the rental insurance of 10$. They raised the rent up to $170 plus the rental insurance (DESPITE my giving them the paper work yet AGAIN). Several months later, they raised the rent yet AGAIN and it is now 220$ PLUS the 10$ for rental insurance. Most of the time I can't even get into the place because idiots damage the doors, tear up the key pad and the last idiot obviously couldn't read the NO 26' UHAULS and drove one in, tearing up the door and the support beams and damaging a support wall. Couldn't get in for over a month and WOW! the day AFTER they finally get the place opened back up I get a letter raising the rent yet AGAIN because these people driving in cause damage. I'm OUT. They don't return calls, you can't get in half the time and you pay for the damage that other people cause because they don't know how to read OR believe the rules don't apply to them. UPDATE: Nov 1, 2024 Of course, when I checkedd my receipt I found they had charged me the NEW increased rate PLUS THE INSURANCE yet AGAIN! When I called, no one had any clue about the below because, shockingly, it was NOT put into my account! Feb 28, 2025 Moved out yesterday and found loads of mouse crap all over my stuff and the floor and found THREE dead mice in my unit. Last week I was there to go through some of my stuff, was the only one there, no cars in the parking lot, everything was dark and no lights on until I drove through. While in my unit I heard coughing and went looking. There were homeless people sleeping in the units the next row over. They had a bed box spring standing against the door. Talking to other people they see homeless people all the time moving couches in and out of there. Also, the cameras are just for looks. They don't actually work, otherwise they would KNOW there are homeless people living in there. If you rent there, put up blue tarps to hide your stuff from the top, and put in mouse poison otherwise, someone will cut the wire on top (happened recently) or there will be mouse droppings and dead mice all over your stuff. Can't wait to see what damage was created in my antique rugs and furniture. ... Read more

When first at this storage it was spotless. The pictures will show where we are today. I sent an email after seeing how this place has.gon to hell ,but happy to keep pushing up the rent it seems, every few months. If ime being charged 300.00 per month, I want my items tored in a clean heat controlled area. Not this Filthy place. No body bothered to get back to me. And you are redirected back to your local office who obviously not care. When there is trash in the bathroom and absolutely filthy toilets no soap or tissue. We had been unable to get into the building due to repairs and I use it to store items for my business, and lost money as no access. Just emails to inform us.access is unavailable. So paying rent with no access has not been mentioned at least pro rate is due. Well mabe I will get a response now. Even the vermin didn't make it. ... Read more

overhead door has been broken for months, we are now not being able to access our unit due to an "onsite emergency" with no date given for the facility to reopen. they continually fail to take out the unit rent even though we have set up auto pay about 8 times. literally would rather pay more to know I can actually access my stuff. EDIT: we ended our lease due to mice and the never ending amount of issues from them and they charged us for an additional month AFTER we ended our lease. when we tried to call, there was yet again no answer on their end. if you want a storage place, pay the extra money for somewhere that actually runs as a business. ... Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Storage of America - 4002 South Dort Hwy has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
