This place was by far the easiest thing I experienced with dealing with a student in college. We had questions about the unit and they answered right away. We needed one on a pinch and the sign up was online and seamless. We did not need to meet with anyone or go through a bunch of paperwork. Just fill out an online form from their website and set up payment. Then we moved in at the time everything was approved. When it was time to move out, I emailed them and all set. I'll be sure to use them in the Spring when I move all my student's stuff back. Saves me a trip to move everything home and back for the summer. ... Read more

If you’re looking to safely store your personal belongings, look no further. I have absolutely the highest praise. This place was clean, safe, their rental and entry systems are efficient, and their customer service is INCREDIBLE. Any time I had a question, they would answer the phone late or early and take care of any need I had. I wish I could give more than 5 stars, honestly. Fantastic company. ... Read more

Tremendous customer service, great West Michigan location, easy 24/7 access in a well lit & secure area, & plenty of room for our moving truck when we unloaded. The climate controlled unit is great, super clean, easy to move large items thru extra wide automatic doorways & hallways, bright lighting, and what a great convenience that there is a large flatbed dolly to move items. The offload area is under a roof, with ample space for large vehicles, with everything staying dry! Recommend without reservation. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

The facility at 377 Lake Michigan Drive offers 24/7 access, allowing you to visit your unit at your convenience.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Grand Valley Mini Storage - 377 Lake Michigan Drive, available security amenities may include Security Camera, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 377 Lake Michigan Drive for specific restrictions and recommendations.
