Read some helpful reviews of Jackson Self Storage at 1750 South Cooper Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Total nightmare. Doug Dysert runs the place like a cash-grab dump. I stored my stuff there for a few years, but when I came back, I found it infested with spiders, covered in rat poop, and everything smelled of neglect. No one’s ever at the office, just some dumb sign saying they’ll “be back” (they never are). Calling? Good luck getting any help; all they do is dodge responsibility. I cleaned my stuff, left, and will never return. This place is a joke. Avoid it. ... Read more

Terrible. Doug Dysert is your typical scumbag slum lord who only cares about collecting his monthly rental fee and doesn’t care at all about keeping his property well maintained. I had some stuff stored there for three years; over that time spiders got in there, hatched a bunch of their eggs and all my stuff was covered in baby spiders. Rat feces were a problem too. You can’t go to the office and complain because nobody is ever at the office, there’s always just that sign that says “be back at whatever time”. Can’t call to talk to customer service because the only English they seem to be able to speak is “that’s not part of the agreement that you signed”. Got my stuff cleaned up, got out of there and won’t ever go back. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated from a member of the business community. There’s lots of other storage rental companies you can use that are cleaner, have more space, are less expensive and actually care about their customers. I’d recommend using one of them and never using this company. Edit: W. Michigan Avenue location, unit #F5. Nice try. “We have no record of this customer”. ?? ... Read more

Jackson Self Storage DOES NOT have competitive pricing. There is a month to month agreement but this company lacks an arrangement on the basis of proportional distribution when it comes to a refund with your final bill. Many facilities do this So for example, if you paid for a $95 unit on the 1st of the month you would be charged, again, $95 after renting one entire month (That's $190 for 28-31 days for a 10X15 unit). If you want to abandon the unit a couple days after your first month, let's say on your 33rd day, you would get no reimbursement for the remainder of the second month you already paid in advance. (You will be charged for a full two months rent for occupying a unit for 33 days) In order to get your money's worth you would have to keep the storage til the end of the second month even if their services will be no use to you. Basically you will have to cancel before your bill date or you'll be charged for an extra entire month and get no reimbursement so nah they don't have competitive pricing Other than that I was told many lies by one of their associates over the phone, really trying to sell me a unit just so I could approve of the terms and agreement and be charged over the phone which would lock me into the contract with no chance of a refund. She told me this place had Key-Pad entry which it does but only for the owner's use. It has a keypad at the Gate and it always stays open for just anyone. I'm not even sure if them having cameras was true or not because the same lady told me that and I saw none I was told the units had their own individual interior lighting and they did not. (just exterior motion sensor lighting). The day I first paid for the unit the woman told me she would call me back but never did so I had to call them the next day myself, so basically I never got to move in on the day I was charged. Conveniently told by the supervisor that she was too new to know any better The exterior of the property is clean but I wouldn't recommend this place for storing any furniture or personal belongings without any type of protection because of the roaches i saw The service was pretty horrible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone sorry ... Very clean space! I rented online and it was a breeze. Unfortunately, the security gate was left open when I arrived today. The security gate should be closed on days the office isn't open so only those with codes can enter. ... Read more

Randomly closed during posted business hours without a note stating if and when they will be back. Recently sat for 55 min during business hours and no one was there doors were locked, mailman couldn't get in, he put mail in drop box. I was told by some male idiot on the phone that they do not accept cash payments. Funny because that is how I've made the majority of my payments. Makes it pretty hard to come in when THE OFFICE IS CLOSED, THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME OF THIS HAPPENING! 7/13, OF COURSE NOW I'VE ACRUED A LATE FEE. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Jackson Self Storage - 1750 South Cooper Street has to offer. These amenities include Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Online Payment and RV Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Jackson Self Storage - 1750 South Cooper Street can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 50 to 800 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Jackson Self Storage - 1750 South Cooper Street come at a variety of prices, starting from $36 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $354 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
