I recently rented a storage unit at Prime Storage in Monroe (in the old Kmart building), and I couldn't be happier. This place is clean and new and the building is clean, secure, and very well maintained, making the moving process easy. ?Leann gave us outstanding service. She was very kind, and helpful from the moment I walked in. Leann patiently walked me through the different unit sizes, explaineing the leasing terms clearly, and made sure I got exactly what I needed. If you're looking for a storage place in Monroe I recommend Prime Storage and definitely ask for Leann! Thank you Prime Storage. ... Read more

?????????? Highly Recommend Prime Storage! I’ve had such a good experience with Prime Storage. The staff has been super nice and helpful every time I’ve needed something. The place is always clean and feels really secure, which gives me peace of mind knowing my stuff is safe. The prices are fair, and getting set up was quick and easy. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a reliable storage place! ... Read more

I originally gave the place a 5 star. I am extremely disappointed with how our experience turned out. We reserved a unit that was supposed to be 1st month free rent. What they dont tell you is about the hidden fees. The locks have to be very specific and are impossible to purchase anywhere so you're forced to buy from them. We were told there would be large carts at every door to get our stuff to our indoor unit. Thankfully we checked things out before taking our stuff there. The carts were literally 3'x2'. It would have taken us hours to get our stuff into a unit which was quite a walk from the entrance door. We walked through the building checking for different carts and these were the only size there. We spoke with Leanne in the office letting her know we had to find some place else to store our items. She got snippy and said if we would've came to the office they store bigger carts there in the back. Mind you she told us carts were in the actual storage building originally. She expected us to push a cart from the office building all the way back to the storage building across the large parking lot. We only had the unit for less than a week. She told us she would for sure get us the money back from the insurance they force you to get and the other fees but wasnt sure about the rent part, which should've been free according to the advertisement. Almost a week after, Leanne left me an extremely rude message saying it was our fault we didnt go find bigger carts and she would not be refunding anything for us. I will NEVER recommend Prime Storage in Monroe to anyone. ... Read more

Leann in the office was very friendly and helpful. I almost did not rent from this company because I have been getting phone calls pressuring me to rent. I planned on renting but I wanted to come in and see the unit and they would not let up. I had to finally hang up on him. My son was in the hospital and I had a lot going on and he continued to pressure me. Leann however was very friendly made me feel comfortable in what I was renting and the price. I appreciate her help today. Thanks ... Read more

Leann was very sweet and so helpful! Kept my things in storage for about 10 months and had no issues during that time. Only issue when moving out was 2 of my things got mold on them. It looks like it may have come from the unit next to mine with how it spread. Leann helped me with a claim though to get it figured out! ... Read more

I was told I would receive a code in my email to get into my outside unit. I never received a code and couldn’t get in touch with anyone who could help me on a Friday evening. I had to keep my truck rental for an extra 12 hours until I could get in touch with someone in the local office because no one on the phone could help me. I was finally able to talk to someone in the office and they informed me I would need to buy a lock for $22 to lock my unit. So using this company actually cost me about $140 more than I anticipated due to the cost of the lock and the late fees and time on the rental truck. I would not recommend at all. I also asked the office person to have the manager call me when they got in on Monday morning and I still have yet to hear from anyone. Terrible customer service. Inaccurate description of the rental. No customer recovery. Such a disappointment. This could have all been avoided if they would have been honest with me about the rental unit. I would have found a different company that could accommodate my late night need. ... Read more

This is a newer business in town that renovated the old K-Mart building. I was not impressed with this business, and I have an unfavorable rating of it after my experience. I shopped for a quote for storage units, and this one seemed decent. Then, after I get a little further, I find out that there is a $29.99 administrative fee, and you need to also pay for a protection program of $17 per month, but you can supposedly get the protection fee waived if you can manage to provide an insurance declaration page that meets their expectations--if not the plan is supposedly added back on! Seems like a lot of hidden fees, and I'm turned off by how they don't show that right from the beginning--only after advancing further and filling out their online form. I also received two calls from the business soliciting a storge unit that day. I was really turned off with how this business conducts itself. I asked both women on the phone what the regular rent was after the "promo" expired and neither could provide me with a specific number. Excuse me? I find that hard to believe. Why would I rent a unit if you can't even tell me what the "normal" monthly rent is going to be--red flag in my opinion... I think they need to be more upfront with what the real cost of renting this unit is. It also seems to me that this business uses high pressure sales tactics in my opinion--example: second woman that called tells me there's only one left. I wasn't born yesterday, and I shopped around... I was able to get more direct upfront pricing, two months free rent, and a better rate on a storage unit from Storage Rentals of America in Monroe on the other side of town. In full disclosure, SROA's unit was not climate controlled like this one, but I don't need climate controlled. SROA provided me with an upfront layout of the fees, and held true to their quote. The cost of their insurance is $14, and I confirmed on the phone with a woman in their call center that I have the option to waive it if my home insurance covers the unit. I would recommend that you shop around and also pay attention to the real cost of renting a unit. I rented from SROA before about five years ago when going through some home renovations and I decided to rent again from them again. I think SROA is trustworthy, but I can't say the same for this business. Not impressed. ... Read more

FIRST they have ROACHES! I caught one trying to crawl into my INDOOR unit, so I called immediately. They said they've been aware for the last few weeks and have been treating it (obvioulsy not good enough). Had we known about the issue, we wouldn't have kept moving stuff into our unit! ALSO, when I first rented here, they knowingly gave me unit with a dangerously defective door. It wont stay up, and falls down fast. They said it was due to bad springs, lots of them are like that, and it's too costly to fix. And last, one of the entrance doors close to our unit has been out of commission for over a month now. I've rented at several storage facilities in the past, and this is by far the worst one yet. Our unit is too dark to see in, and they want an extra $25 a month to use an outlet. Not the biggest issue, but it just adds to this horror. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Prime Storage (MI05) - 1290 North Monroe Street has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Prime Storage (MI05) - 1290 North Monroe Street can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 400 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
