Absolutely DO NOT go here. I paid extra for climate control and insurance and HAD TO THROW AWAY A LOT of my things after one year for mold and mildew. No climate control truly. SOMEONE BROKE INTO THE UNIT AND THEY DID NOT REIMBURSE AND SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT after paying insurance this was UPSETTING. I tried to speak to upper management, and the receptionist said they do not interact with customers. Not personable at all for a business. ... Read more

The new owners jacked the price up by 45% without any notice or warning!! I've had the same unit for over 7 years. In the past I would get small incremental increases that were very reasonable. But, the old owners sold the storage unit facility and the new owners immediately jacked up the rent from $130/Mo to $190/Mo within 3 months! Just imagine having all your extra stuff in storage and then getting hit with 25% then 45% more a month automatically charged to your bank account! Is that even legal?? Not only that, the new owners seem rude to deal with. They ignored most of my emails asking why the price went up without any notice at all. I did get a partial response but it must have been written by middle school student because it was short with bad grammar and did not answer my questions. This is just sad because the previous owners were very friendly and courteous. The old owner would either send a notice out or call directly if there was price increase or a billing issue. This is called 'basic common courtesy' and is something the new owners seem to lack. I get the feeling that the new owners are in this business just for the money and don't care about you or keeping loyal multi-year customers like myself. They will just keep jacking the price up knowing that it's PIA for you to move your stuff out. All that said, I am now in the process of moving my stuff out after being a loyal customer for 7+ years. My recommendation is to find an another storage unit. It will likely be cheaper and you won't have to deal with a huge price increase without any warning. ... Read more

5-Star Review: Smooth, Clean, and Excellent Customer Service I had a fantastic experience with Roll Up Self Storage in Blowing Rock! From the first phone call, the customer service was top-notch. The representative, Judy, was friendly, patient, and clearly explained all my options, pricing, and what to expect. It really made the whole process feel simple and stress-free. When my daughter arrived to move some of her things in from her college dorm room, she was pleasantly surprised at how clean and well-kept the unit was. Everything looked freshly maintained and secure, which gave me confidence in storing her belongings there. The entire rental process—from booking the unit over the phone to getting access—was incredibly easy and efficient. No hassle, no confusion. Just great service and a clean, reliable space. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a smooth storage experience with people who truly care about helping you! Thank you! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
