Have had a unit here for years and still do. Love it. Management is wonderful and I've been late on payments a few times and they've always understood and worked with me. Did get water damage in the unit. Always a risk with outdoor units so I was not angry at all. Units are secure. In the last few years there's only been one break in and we were notified the same day in case we wanted to be sure our stuff was secure. (Nothing was missing from ours but it was nice to know that it was possible) ... Read more

Jennifer, the manager of the facility is nice, HOWEVER, we would never rent from this facility again. We checked our unit and noticed water damage. We reported to Jennifer and she had roofers come over and amend the situation. At that point, we should have moved our stuff immediately in retrospect. We checked the unit a couple of months later and saw there continued to be a water issue and now, a significant amount of mold. We informed Jennifer, asked about some sort of discount and was informed that since we already paid for the month, she could not reimburse us. She said we would have to file with our insurance ompany. We had to throw away thousands of dollars worth of furniture and heirlooms. We chose McKinney because they were reasonable in price, but I would never use this facility again . I would never recommend you use this facility if you value your belongings and expect good customer service. ... Read more

I store my motorcycle at Mckinney storage. I put the lock on wrong one day after parking my bike. This left the motorcycle and storage vulnerable. Any ways the manager called to let me know right away, so I could properly store my bike safely. This would be a hard thing to notice because of the large numbers of units. This show me they pay attention to detail and know whats going on around the property. In addition the customer service and prices are excellent. ... Read more

Horrible experience, my unit was broken into, half of my boxes and other items stolen. The site manager called me up, and asked me to fill out the incident report. I told her that was not my job. I was asked to call the police on my own. She did not call them at all to report the robbery. She pointed to where supposedly the robbers supposedly jumped the fence. She kept saying she was sorry, but I was not pleased at how it was handled. I was told they only robbed two units. Don't rent from this place please. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that McKinney Mini Storage - 5825 McKinney Drive NE has to offer. These amenities include Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
