Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I know dang well these reviews are either fake or promotional. BBB rates Public Storage at 1 star. Horrible business practices. As a single mom starting over, I shopped for a place I could afford. My unit started as an online "lock in this rate" at $77. Three months later raised to $107. Now another notice saying it's being raised to $148. Insane. I could probably deal with $5, maybe $10 rate change every year, but $41!! When you complain they just say they can raise it whenever they want. The market does not call for a storage unit to raise prices on their customers whenever they want. They say it's to keep up with the market. But when the market goes down, will they decrease my space rent????? Currently looking for a new place to rent. Will never rent from Public Storage again. Side note, the employees are fine. It's the business practices that have ruined it for me. ... Read more

Great experience. Spoke with Julie, she was so helpful and patient with me and all my questions and concerns. I went there uncertaint and nervous about that thought of trusting strangers with my lifes belongings but after speaking with Julie I left feeling assured, relieved and certain that's where I want to store my keepsakes. Many thanks to Julie and those at public storage in gardnerville. ... Read more

I went here just to check out the facility and the manager Julie greeted me and showed me around, answered everything I had questions about. She was very knowledgeable and sincere in the input she shared. She was genuinely positive and very committed to the accolades of what public storage had to offer over other storages. She was honest and straight forward, leaving nothing to guess. Needless to say I will be trusting public storage with my storing needs. Thank you Julie for excellent service and making me confident in my decision to store my belongings with public storage. ... Read more

This review is for Public Storage in Gardnerville, Nevada only. The customer service is five star. The manager was very helpful. When we asked to see a different unit, she showed us one. We were problem-solving with a very tiny amount of water seepage. Since the beginning of the contract, I have no idea if they will be fair or not regarding increases. I would suggest that you bring your own tarps. It will take three very large ones for a large storage unit, you can cover the floor that way. Then cover items in your unit with plastic or tarps. The five stars is for the manager at Gardnerville . ... Read more

Rented from them for about 6 years everything was fine until they practically double my rent on a 5 by 10 from 80$ a month to 173$ I decided to find a cheaper place and did, moved out with half the month left and find out they don’t pro rate on move outs! So I basically paid 173$ for 2 weeks of having the unit. Place is a rip off would never recommend this place to anybody! Someone should investigate this place for fraud! ... Read more

Manipulative and predatory business practices. They increased my rent by almost 3x the amount I paid initially. It almost doubled every year. When trying to move out they tack on a full month then turn around a re-rent the unit you just vacated in essence charging two people that month for the same unit. They claim it’s in the “contract” but cannot provide a copy of this contract when requested. If I could give no stars I would. STAY AWAY, NOT A BUSINESS YOU SHOULD TRUST YOUR BELONGINGS WITH. ... Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
