We highly recommend that you NOT use Storage Sense! Their facility is not maintained. The interior is dirty and always has the horrible odor of decomposing mice. The exterior is not maintained either. The driveways are dirt roads and never graded. After it snows it takes them SEVERAL DAYS to plow, making the units inaccessible. There is no “customer service.” They have no one on site and, if you call them, you get someone in Atlanta who has no idea what’s going on. They raise their prices every couple of months without giving notice. All in all, Storage Sense is a DREADFUL OPERATION. ... Read more

The people who manage the East Chatham,NY storage units never answer the phones, dont take very good care of the property. Tonight I stopped by my storage unit and did not notice until it wad to late that they had not salted any part of the property. It can be used ad an ice skating rink. ... Read more

This place is to be avoided at all costs. They aggressively raise prices every couple of months WITHOUT notifying the customer. They do not maintain the property. There are huge potholes in all the driveways, and they do not plow after a snowfall. And the entry driveway is on a steep hill so the unplowed roads make this place unusable in winter. There is zero "customer service." The "on-site manager" is nowhere to be found and takes days to return phone calls. I'll be vacating this place soon. I have no idea how they stay in business. ... The people who work here are great and very helpful. I'd give them 5 stars. My rating is for the cost of the unit, which climbed from the time Storage Sense bought out the small company who originally owned it to double what I had been paying, mostly for more and more types of required insurance they kept tacking on. With the original company, whether or not to have insurance was my choice and responsibility. Under new ownership by Storage Sense, the cost of my 10 x 10 unit rose from $80 / month to $160. On the positive side, the cost became a great motivator to finally get my stuff out of storage! ... Read more

There are potholes throughout the entire storage unit area. Not all the outside lighting for the units work. My unit is completely in the dark. I have had this unit for over a year, and they have raised the rates twice. ... Read more

Highly recommend. Our experience here was highly satisfying. Great customer service. Especially impressed with the on site property manager, David ~ on the ball, truly helpful and courteous. Clean, easy access, pleasant surroundings and nice units (we had regular outdoor access and indoor climate control). If we ever need storage again in the area, this is where we will be. Bonus- Lots of solar power all over the roofs, so maybe that helps your sensitive items in climate control if power ever goes out). ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 1101 Rt 295 for specific restrictions and recommendations.
