Read some helpful reviews of KO Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I have never filed a complaint against a business before, but my experience with KO Storage left me with no other choice. In April, I rented a storage unit while my boyfriend and I searched for a home. I was originally assigned Unit 019, but after being notified it had flooded, I was reassigned to Unit 422. When I arrived, another customer had already been assigned that unit, so KO Storage reassigned me a second time to Unit 394. I moved into Unit 394 exactly as instructed, and I still have screenshots documenting those reassignment messages. My account remained in good standing through automatic payments, and my unit was accessed multiple times over the following months without issue. When it came time to move out, my boyfriend and I coordinated one of the few days our demanding work schedules allowed, rented a trailer, and arranged additional help. Instead of accessing my belongings, we found a company lock on my unit. Customer service informed me that KO Storage had mistakenly attempted to rent my unit to another customer. In the process, my personal lock had been cut off and replaced. What followed was nearly three hours of phone calls, repeated transfers, conflicting information, and even being disconnected. I was assured someone would contact me that day. No one ever did. The following morning, I returned to find the company lock removed, my personal lock cut in half on the ground, and my storage unit left completely unsecured. At no point did anyone notify me that my belongings had been left unlocked or explain how long they had been accessible. Rather than immediately accepting responsibility, I was initially blamed for occupying the wrong unit. That accusation was false. KO Storage had reassigned me twice. I provided screenshots and was told the previous day it was a mistake on their part, just for them to turn around the next day and deny accountability. The original mistake was concerning, but the company's response was far worse. Poor recordkeeping, repeated communication failures, inaccurate information, hours spent trying to resolve an issue they created, and the decision to leave a customer's belongings unsecured without any notification demonstrate a level of negligence that I never expected from a storage company. Customers trust storage facilities to accurately manage their units and safeguard their property. Unfortunately, that trust was not upheld in my experience. ... Read more

Easy and fast rental experience online. The price was comparable to other storage places in the area, but the others are fenced in with a gate. The buildings are clean inside but they do have a lot of weeds growing around the units. I did stay with KO to store items we couldn't fit in our new place after our move in. We just got a smaller unit. The security cameras do make it feel secure with the absence of fencing. ... Read more

My fiancé and I paid for our unit but we were never able to reach a manager, physically or over the phone. We paid for our unit but we could never open it. We also could never reach someone about a refund. The phone numbers given never reached anyone. ... Read more

I reached out to KO storage in Doylestown, because Public Storage decided to raise my rent by $150 a month for 2 units, after my promotion was done! I literally only got one month of regular rate before my rates went through the roof! I am using all storage as long term! When doing the reservation for the units, they called and spoke to the manager of the property, who stated that increases, do not happen often and if so would be maybe like $10-$20 total BUT ONLY HAPPENS ON VERY FEW OCCASIONS! So i am now, 4 months at this facility, and low and behold, they want an extra $76 a month for my two storage units, for a total close to an extra $1000 a year! What, this is all while they have many, and i do mean many storage units available and are offering promotional rates on those units! You would think since your an autopay customer with multiple units, they would ease off and make sure to keep your business and not basically push you out! I am a disabled veteran and i took me forever to move my stuff! Called customer service, i was hung up on by the first one while being placed on hold to review the account! The second time calling a message had to be left and the guy read straight from a script of the postcard i received! They do not stand by their word and try to bully people for an exorbitant amount of money! This facility barley has anyone working, you cant get ahold of any of the managers, and has no gate or secured entry or exit! Such a shame it has come to this! It seems like I'm not the only one on here that was promised something and was not delivered on such through KO storage especially with cost and increases! ... Read more

Been with Chippewa self-storage for 4 years 1 year now that it's KO storage and it's been nothing but a headache since. I talked to a representative of KO when they first took over to set up my payment info. They told me that my monthly rate would not increase from $115 a month. Fast forward a year later my monthly rate is now $162 after 2 increases and mandatory unit insurance. The rates are $57 lower for new customers. Shows how valued they think we are as loyal customers. Will prolly be moving to a different storage facility soon. ... Read more

UPDATE: A district manager reached out to me very quickly and was sincere and genuine in addressing and fixing all the issues. After a full explanation of what was an unintentional error and making amends above and beyond, this was an incident that occurred during the transition of the purchase of the storage facility. I appreciate all the efforts made to fix what was a mistake and moreso the path provided for better communication, including the recent hiring of an on-site manager. I feel comfortable and secure continuing to stay at this facility of which I've used for 10+ years. Thank you. ****************** This company does not return phone calls or emails, they are charging me late charges when my payment is not late, and they sent a check already paid through to the bank a second time and of course my bank denied the check and this company wants to charge me $25 insufficient funds fee. There is no one local I can go to straighten this out, and when I call I'm told a supervisor has to speak to me yet they can't transfer me, the supervisor has to call me and then they never call. ... I must update my review. I had a district manager call me directly and resolved my issues. More difficult than it should have been, but they did follow up and make it right. Still prefer a local, but good save and good look for KO. I am sure they will continue to improve over time. Local Chippewa storage ( which was locally owned and awesome) has been purchased by a national conglomerate KOstorage. The service is 95% automated, all on-line, and terrible when I finnnnally reached a human at customer service. My very small simple issue was not fixed - I simply wanted to have all my units (3) under 1 online account. The refused to merge them. Plus the prices went up.. off to find a different facilty asap. Won't support bad service moving into town with no local representation. ... Read more
