I rented a unit here years ago and when I vacated I just stored my boxes for about 6 months at home. When I unpacked them I found that someone had stolen about 1500.00 of my Jewelry. I knew something was off when I went there a few weeks earlier and boxes were knocked all over but I thought they had just fallen over. When I rented the unit I told the girl "hey your camera isn't working" for wherever it went to, she said oh its been like that and also the door to where my unit was inside was broken but she said that someone was going to fix it. The whole time I rented the unit the door was broken. Anyway the thief or thieves went into my unit from above because they have only some kind of wiring covering the unit. Not secure. I never reported it because so much time had passed. ... Read more

This storage facility called the police on my brother and I after Debbie the store owner called me and accused my brother of damaging mud on the property then when I called her back she said it was a mistake and she started to yell when I requested her managers number she was very rude. When my brother came in she called the police on him when he also asked for upper management or HR contact info. When the police arrived she continued to be aggressive and ignorant and gave us a 10 day notice to vacate for asking for HR’s number. She falsely accused my brother then treated us like animals due to the color of our skin. Do not rent at this location the manager in questions name is Debbie. Debbie is very rude, loquacious, self loathing, disrespectful, unpleasant, unprofessional, lacks integrity, she’s a huge liar, she doesn’t like African Americans. She has no accountability and is a very nasty person. Do not rent with this facility. ... Read more

I have used Outback Self-Storage twice now, once while moving several years back and now currently. My experience both times has been excellent. I also like that the location is in a good part of town. ... Read more

I've been a client for over a decade on and off. Deb & Melissa have always been fair and considerate of my needs. I like the climate control units (always clean)the security is good and my climate control unit has a garage door I may pull in and stay out of cold. ... Read more

The staff flat out lies about policy and procedure. They bad mouth one another to customers (at least the manager, Debbie, speaks poorly of her staff), and go out of their way to make your relationship difficult. Debbie says she remembers nothing about what you discussed with her "because she has 700 customers that she deals with"...until it's time to remember specific dates she quoted, and policies that she clearly remembers discussing (selective memory is a sure sign of a con artist). When I rented my unit, I told their customer service person that I only needed it for 60 days, and paid in advance. She advised that I call on the first day of the month I intended to vacate, to confirm that my final payment had been properly applied. When I called to confirm my payment, and move out date at the end of the month, Debbie said I needed to turn in notice in writing (though I already had notified them in person, when I rented the unit), or she would bill me for another month. She didn't care what her staff had told me, even though the notes were in my file. "She shouldn't have let you do that...that's why she doesn't work here anymore". So, then when I dropped off the notice, they billed me an additional month, because Debbie said my written notice was 4 days late ("you turned in notice on the 24th, and it needed to be in on the 20th"). Of course, she specifically remembered telling me that, after not being able to remember anything I reminded her of earlier. Way to be completely unprofessional, practice no customer service acumen, not honor your representative's promises, and think only of the immediate $60 you'll get for one more month of storage while losing a customer FOREVER. Way to go Debbie, way to go Outback! In summary: Drive 8 more minutes, and rent from Westgate storage on Secor, right off the highway in Toledo. I've had one or two units there for nearly 14 years, and they are fantastic. This was a huge mistake, and the geographic convenience is nowhere near worth the terrible service, and ever more terrible policies (let alone the terrible area, were your property will likely be damaged or stolen...look at the other reviews)! ... New cameras, lights, and gate, but yet everything gets broken into. Had outside parking and trailer was broken into twice in two weeks. Not very secure at all! Campers, trailers, AND units getting broken into nonstop. Appears there is no relationship with sheriff's department in atea. Would not recommend this facility. Was there for 5 yrs and never had a problem until this year. And seems to be same with everyone else who rents there. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.
