I had an excellent experience with Public Storage in Powell, and a big reason for that is Sofia, the property manager. From the moment I walked in, she was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. She took the time to explain my options clearly, answered all my questions, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and feels very secure, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. Sofia runs a tight ship and it really shows—customer service like this is rare these days. If you’re looking for storage in the Powell area, I highly recommend this location and definitely ask for Sofia. She makes all the difference. ... Read more

Stopped in to check prices. Heather was there to greet me. I had been just going in to check prices. But Heather was kind enough to show me multiple units. Walked the property with me, which is very clean by the way. In the end I actually rented. Heather was super friendly and helpful, answered all my questions. Thank you Heather ... Read more

I’ve had a unit at this location for over 15 years. As with everything, the price kept going up and up. I stopped at the office to see about possibly getting a smaller unit. Sophia was very kind and helpful. We viewed another size but I decided it was too small. We went back to the office and Sophia was able to get me a lower rate on my current unit. No one else had even hinted at this possibility. I have a second smaller unit that I’ll be able to now move into my original unit as I sold half of the stuff. Everything in one place and saving money. I’m very happy with her help. ... Read more

For being such a large company, they do a lot of things right. 1. The staff is friendly and helpful. 2. The place is easy to access using your phone. 3. Units are clean and easily accessible, with plenty of options for sizes. They also have parking spots for RV's, trailers, etc. All that said, this is a 4* review for one reason, and that is how they manage pricing. I didn't know until recently that this is common practice among storage rental facilities, but they jack up the price every 6 months with no cap, and the only way to avoid it is by renting a new unit online (even in the same location). I was told there are people paying $500/month when they could be paying less than $100 if they would just jump from one garage to another. I'm sure it makes sense to them somehow, but as a customer, this is infuriating. This is the kind of thing that could reduce stars dramatically, but since they aren't the only company that does this, I couldn't. I did rent from a company that gave no warning and just jacked the price up 30%+, but Public at least warned me. I also feel like they will notify me before a price increase. I'll mark my calendar. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
