DO NOT RENT HERE. I have never been so frustrated with a storage company in my life. My monthly rate started around $200 and was suddenly increased to over $330. That’s more than a 60% increase. When I called to ask why, I was told there was a larger unit available on promotion for less than what I was paying. Naturally, I asked if I could move into that unit to avoid the ridiculous increase. A representative told me she would speak with the manager and that they would help me out. I trusted her word and waited. Big mistake. Since then, I have left multiple voicemails and made numerous attempts to contact management. Not a single call has been returned. Not one. It seems the only time anyone is eager to answer the phone is when you’re trying to rent a new unit and give them more money. What makes this even worse is that I live in Maryland and my storage unit is in Portland. I cannot simply walk into the office and demand answers. I relied on what their employee told me, and now I’m stuck paying outrageous rates while being completely ignored. The business model feels predatory. They lure customers in with low promotional pricing, then increase rates after a few months and continue raising them. They know moving a storage unit is expensive, time-consuming, and difficult, so they count on customers feeling trapped. If you’re looking for storage, find a company that offers a 12-month rate lock or transparent pricing. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Customer service is nonexistent, management is unresponsive, and the constant rate increases are unacceptable. Look elsewhere. ... Read more

Less than 0. My storage was broken into and several others. The property manager tj NEVER even bothered to let me know then tried to cover it up by making some janky repair job that didn't even secure the building. So because of it I moved out and when doing so I found more issues with my belongings that weren't stolen totally destroyed by RATS!! 4 DEAD RATS in my storage.!!! No accountability ,not even a fake apology was given for the unprofessional way this property is ran. Never again. BAD BAD BAD! ... Read more

I was never given the explanation that I could enter the code I was given to access the facility, walk right up to my unit, break the cheesy plastic seal on it, and retrieve my lock from inside. I wasted a day thinking I needed to speak with someone in the office. The storm drain 4 feet from my storage unit door is completely full of leaves and other debris. I'm hoping my unit doesn't flood, but will prepare for that. ... Read more

Furious with this location! We rented unit #38, last building in the back corner, to store items I inherited from my grandma. We wanted to use our own locks but had to buy locks from Public Storage, they did not come in a secure box, they were handed to us "unwrapped". When we were moving out we discovered boxes in our unit that did not belong to us, they came from a unit that was on the opposite end of the building. The manager said that there had been several "incidents" recently. He came down with a cart and removed the boxes we discovered in our unit. We were told Public Storage would contact the owner of the boxes. When I tracked down the owner, thanks to her mail being in boxes hidden in my unit, she said no one had called to tell her her unit had been broken into. The insurance, that was recommended by Public Storage with flyers at the counter, will not cover our losses as there was no damage to the door and they claim an expert has examined the lock and determined the lock was not picked. The district manager, Monica Craig, has not returned any of my phone calls. I discovered that she credited my checking account 2 months rent however my losses are over $1000. I left a message for Monica's boss/Eric, did not receive a call from him either. The theft of our family heirlooms doesn't warrant a single call from the district manager or her boss?? The location manager, TJ, has been sympathetic but can't do much, just refers us to Monica . I have included a picture of the boxes that were taken from one unit and put into our unit. These boxes were hidden in the middle of our unit so as to cover up the disappearance of our items. I asked Public Storage to notify the other tenants to 1) warn them that they may have been broken into 2) to see if our stuff was put in another unit..... they refused to let the other tenants know. Police report filed ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Public Storage - 2542 SE 105th Avenue has to offer. These amenities include Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
