The staff doesn't seem well trained, and one of the women was extremely rude when I went to ask a question about reserving a storage unit. She seemed angry that I even approached her and didn't even look at me when she was talking to me. I ended up going with a place with better customer service. Shady, unfair, unclear, and rude business practices. Do not rent here. They will take your money for arbitrary reasons and then tell you it's just "their rules", but not apply the rules the same to everyone, which you can see evidence in the other reviews. I asked Rebecca in October what I needed to do for move-out. They said I could move out "anytime" and that I just had to be out by the 5th of the month to avoid being billed for that month. I repeated this back to them and they confirmed it. I cleared out my unit on December 4th, and went to sign my vacate paperwork. Rebecca and their coworker charged me for 4 days in December AND the full month's insurance, even though I was told I would not be charged as long as I vacated by the 5th. My insurance was pro-rated when I moved in, but they said it wasn't pro-rated when I moved out, and said I had to pay the full month's insurance rate. They need to explain their move-out process much more clearly when people ask what they need to do to move out to avoid more charges. I would have been fine if they had just explained that you are BILLED from the 1st to the 1st of each month, and your card is CHARGED on the 5th. I was under the impression that I was billed on the same day I was charged, the 5th, and that I paid for a month of rent from the 5th of November to the 5th of December. I shared my thoughts and confusion with the team and they did not offer any apology, solution, acknowledgement or seem to care at all that I was upset/confused. These guys are great. They make it so easy to move in and out of a unit and are also super accommodating if you need to downsize spaces. I appreciate the staff taking the time to learn the names of their tenants and being engaged with them whenever they stop in. I was skeptical of this place after reading the reviews, but after taking one of the larger units for a little over a year, I was pleasantly surprised. As long as you adhere to the rules, as we all should have learned in elementary school, you can have confidence your goods will be safely protected. The staff was pleasant and accommodating - within the stated rules, and I was quickly notified if I left my unit unlocked or if there were roof leaks in nearby units (happened 1x, wet rainy days, top floor unit), etc etc. first come first serve for the carts and loading bays but I never had a problem and the elevators were always in service and had plenty of capacity. In all honesty I needed a place that was affordable and safe. Portland seems to get a bit crowed and stuff goes missing a lot. I looked for storage close to home and found the U-Store storage facilities super close. I first when in with a budget and they ended up offering me a much cheaper unit than the one I had thought off. The people are nice and have everything under control. Very friendly and helpful staff. The building is pretty massive, but it’s kept up well (the building is over 100 years old! And looks GREAT when you take that into consideration) The prices are very affordable. They do not let you store food (pests) and isn’t temperature controlled for the summer (kept above 40 in winters), so just be aware it’s probably not best to store your good wine!
