Rented a smaller unit than I was renting at another storage facility on Vilas in Central Point, who after being a customer for over 6 years did nothing but up the rent, charged for everything and upped the rent every 6 months. Started with paying $80 for a 8x10 and ended at $150. They also closed way to early (7:00 p.m.) Hard to go during the week if you work until 5:30-6:00 everyday. So I thought I would try South Valley Mini Storage. First plus, it was close to where I had moved. Second, A 5x7x9 was $70 (as opposed to $150 for a not much bigger storage) and they are open until 9:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Also, I was able to rent my unit online within 10 minutes. No going in to an office and filling out a bunch of forms. I rented an online unit towards the end of the month so they pro-rated the rent for only days in the month and only charged $50 security deposit (as opposed to $150 I paid for the other unit and they didn't even pro-rate me for leaving the unit that was paid through January 31, 2025 and was completely out January 25, 2025. I paid with my debit card, received confirmation, but for some reason my bank did not not put the charge through or kicked it back or whatever happened it was the bank's error. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until South Valley Mini Storage sent me a text and since I already had my things loaded and the unit locked up with my personal belongings, unknowing that it had not been paid by my bank. Instead of locking my unit they sent a text and just added February's rent onto the prorated Rent that I thought I had paid. At first confused until I checked my bank's app and realized it wasn't charged, declined, nothing. It's like I never did it. Regardless, it had to be corrected and paid the next morning. It was Friday, January 31, 2025. First thing the next morning I went on So. Valley Mini Storage's online payment center and I used the account I had made to reserve the unit. But by doing so, I had a zero balance because it showed nothing. So I created a new account, still nothing. Tried the link they sent me, nothing. I tried all weekend to no avail. Monday I called and spoke to a representative who fixed my account (which I screwed up by opening another account), they waived late fees that had been applied because it was due on the first and now I have it all straightened out. The gentleman who helped me was very nice, understanding. The unit is enclosed, very quiet, clean and you can take your things out and organize your things without management driving by 10 times to see what your doing. I cannot review the security about the facility yet because it has only been a week but it appears to be a safe storage as there are no people off the street hanging around or strange people hanging around the facility. I am very happy so far with the price (1/2 of what I was paying), the later time that they stay opened and it is surrounded by well known businesses, have plenty of surveillance security cameras through the facility and lights in each unit and only a block from where I moved to!!! Yay!! Thank you South Valley Mini Storage! Karen Hunt ... Read more

Our experience with this company was not only frustrating but disheartening. We made reservations via their website to ensure a storage space would be available for our RV. As a military family we have dealt with many storage facilities as we move often. On the day of our reservation to move our rv to the facility we contacted management to finish payment and move in process. Everything was okay until we were asked to provide a picture of our rv after they had already taken payment and we were literally on our way to the storage facility. The company called and informed us that the owner, Mr. Brown would be issuing a refund as the rv was older then ten years. This is extremely disheartening as it shed light on poor customer service, inadequate communication from the company and overall displayed poor business practices. No where on their website does it state any age restrictions on vehicles. In addition our reservation was made almost a week before this conversation took place leaving ample room for the company to reach out and ensure costumer satisfaction or to rely any information on age restrictions. It's also extremely frustrating as no real reason was given other then the age of the rv being over ten years. Our rv is a classic 36ft Fleetwood Bounder and is a special edition. Our engine has under 50k miles, there are no leaks or poor maintenance, the paint is not chipped nor faded, and the rv is in excellent condition. Overall this company did not communicate which ultimately left us in a serious situation on moving day and we ultimately were turned away for inadequate reasoning. As long time rv enthusiast we understand the need for age restrictions in order to ward off any rift raft or to prevent poorly managed rvs from deterring new customers however our RV does not fall under any of those situations. We highly recommend having clear and written expectations or requirements for their facility and considering our rv is in excellent condition we do not believe the reasons were justified. We won't bad mouth the company or write an overly complex review but we won't be recommending them and will be sharing our unfortunate experience with their facility as we are active in the local camping and outdoor communities. We also found it odd that they had a third party handle the reservation and we ultimately are out of the reservation fee for something that is not our fault. Had their website had accurate information such as age restrictions or if someone with their storage facility would have followed up with a phone call or email the entire situation could have been handled differently. When the person on the phone even clearly states "the online reservation system does not provide full instructions" it's bad business to not address the issue as it appears its happened before. The entire experience was extremely odd and frustrating but we are glad to have found another storage unit that gladly accommodated us and our RV. We also highly recommend another storage facility for fellow military members and family as other facilities may offer better rates. Hopefully this storage company fixes their issues so others don't fall victim to such a horrible day. ... Read more

I've been keeping my things at South Valley Mini Storage for almost a year!! The owners are always available to help you out and answer any concerns that might arise. I feel my things are safe at South Valley Mini Storage. The only thing that I wish for would be to have the units on temperature control and that there would be no gap in between the units near the bottom of my storage unit. All and all I am happy with my storage unit and would recommend South Valley Mini Storage to anyone looking for a storage facility!!! Thanks so very much!!!! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
