Couldn't get into locker for 1 full day because no one but the last person I.spoke with bothered to tell me that my locker number wasn't 186 but I86. I kept saying one eighty six and it was actually I eighty six. ... Read more

I have used MyPlace since they took over from the previous owners. Communication with the company has improved greatly. I use several storage spaces and all are clean before moving into and are easily accessible. ... Read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Dealing with this storage facility has been an absolute nightmare. I moved out in late-May. When I tried to close-out the unit they said that I had left boxes in the unit and would require a $250 dollar cleaning fee to remove them. When I told them that clearly someone had broken into my unit and that the boxes were not mine, they ignored me for two months. I've called them on 4 different occasions trying to get this issue resolved and have received no response from the facility manager. Yesterday I received an invoice for $750 for the two months since then. Please contact me to get this situation resolved. ... Read more

Horrible security!!! 1. No cameras inside the buildings 2. There are maybe 5 cameras around the compound and they don't cover every section, infact the whole back row has no cameras. 3. The fences have been messed with so bad anyone can jump or climb under 4. Doors to the buildings that lead outside the whole facility are often left open and don't actually lock when shut. 5. Trees behind the buildings have been vents so that one can climb up and over the roofs. 6. The gate which uses a code to get in is open alot, not able to close. There is no on-site manager, and the one guy who "takes care of the facility" never answers his phone, and doesn't actually go to the facility to fix anything. ... Read more

*** LATEST UPDATE *** I got a call today from Samantha, Regional Manager. She was very customer-oriented, and made sure our account was fully sorted out. We were re-credited for the money we shouldn't have paid, and Samantha gave us a discount on the monthly unit rent. Customer serrvice training: Their local managers are apparently undergoing additional training on customer service, so hopefully other customers will no longer have to jump through hoops to resolve situations. Video surveillance: I expressed concern at the situation with the video cameras on the property as other reviews mentioned that several cameras were disabled and people got their unit burglarized. Samantha mentioned the broken cameras had been repaired and they were negotiating for more cameras on the property. Something to ask about if you decide to put your heirlooms in storage here. The property is huge, and many units are backed to a woodsy area which is not well covered. Additionally, there are no cameras in the hallways. So, hopefully, this issue will be addressed quickly. Upgrading my review: For the active steps taken by MyStoragePlaces to fix our account, and their assurance that their corporate and local issues are being addressed, I upgrade my review to 4 stars. I may upgrade to 5 stars once we see the property is fully covered by video cameras -- as promised by their terms of service (see website). *** UPDATE: Surprisingly, the new ownership did reach out to us, and promised to recredit us the overcharges. To be confirmed, but definitely a step in the right direction... THE GOOD: Because they finally reached out today, I upgrade their rating to 2 stars. As soon as the accounts are straightened out as promised and we see the recredit, I'll upgrade it another star. THE BAD: When they acquired Federal (ex-owner), they didn't reach out to existing clients to ask them to switch direct-debit payments. So we continued to pay Federal, but MyStoragePlaces didn't get the $$. Their bad, not ours. THE UGLY: It took 7 calls and a 1-star review before they got their act together and finally reach out. We were left in the dark for 2 months on our $500+ overcharge, and they wasted a copious amount of our time (no compensation for that). I'd say there's room for improvement in their customer care practices, and I hope we are the exception rather than the rule. Note to other customers: Better not be deliquent, or get slammed with $240 in fees. Yikes! THE ORIGINAL REVIEW: We have been renting a unit for about 1 year. The company debited us automatically. In May 2024, we found we were locked out of our unit. We called the company and were told we owed them over $500 in "past due" rent. We needed access so we paid immediately what they asked for, thinking that there may have been a confusion in the banking. However, we verified our bank records a few hours later, and found out we had been debited for the period for which they said we were "past due". As it turned out, the owner (Federal) had been bought out by a new owner (My Place Storage), and their accounting is a mess. They failed to track down correctly the debits. Then, instead of doing the right thing (putting their accounts in good order), they simply decided to blame their customers... We called them 5 times in the past 2 months, and a 6th time today. Each time, we were assured that we would receive a call-back from the manager, Paul McGrath. The dude absolutely NEVER called. Utter disdain for his customers. To this day, they still owe us money on account of their overcharging us. We have to go to the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. The storage space is clean, that's why we did business with Federal. But the new ownership's business practices are less than transparent. ... Read more

One star is not low enough for this storage facility. We started using the facility in May 2023 because we had moved and did not have enough room in our house for all of our things. All was well for about two months. We decided to go to the unit because we needed to get something out of it. When we opened the door to our unit, the whole thing was trashed. We had two locks on our unit: the one provided by the facility and a personal lock. Neither of the locks had any damage. Everything that meant anything to us was stolen and everything that was left in the unit was gone through. We had heard from other people that multiple units were stolen from during the month of July. It is my understanding that it was most likely all done by the same person. But none of the cameras work and there are also no cameras in the buildings. Although you need a code to get into the facility, this Storage Facility is not secure at all and I would not recommend it to anyone. The Facility pretty much did nothing to help us, if anything they made our situaition worse. While we were in the process of clearing out what was left in our unit, they raised our rent. If you have a unit at this facility, I strongly suggest you move your stuff to a different storage facility. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that MyPlace Self Storage - 338 Sumter Hwy has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Kiosk Available, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by MyPlace Self Storage - 338 Sumter Hwy can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 50 to 240 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by MyPlace Self Storage - 338 Sumter Hwy come at a variety of prices, starting from $78 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $234 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
