I was recommended by my sister who recently was a customer of y'all. This is the first time renting a storage here in Columbia, best service ever management and the young lady I spoke to when the office was closed was all helpful. When I pulled up my storage was clean, and ready with locks inside waiting for me. While I was unloading Mrs. Kelly checked on us and even offered water. Which I think was so pleasant of her. I am updating this review because we stored our belongings in this facility for a period of two weeks and had to trash it due to rodents. The facility refuses to own this issue and instead points to language in the contract that they are not responsible for rodents/pest. Though I understand that legal position, I cannot recommend this facility because I do not want another family to have a similar experience. I can’t say enough good things about Life Storage in Columbia, SC! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They took the time to understand my storage needs and recommended the perfect unit for me. The facility is spotless and well-maintained, which gave me peace of mind knowing my belongings were in good hands.
Accessing my unit is SUCH A BREEZE with their convenient hours and easy-to-use security features. I also appreciated the climate-controlled options, ensuring my items stayed in great condition no matter the weather. The pricing is very competitive, and I felt I got excellent value for my money.

***Updated Review***
Had to change it to one star bc original post was as soon as I signed my contracts for both units. What I thought was so great really wasn’t.
1. ROACHES!!! I do not have roaches and I am traumatized by them. I opened my unit one day and saw a huge roach on the wall. It was after hours. The next day I went to the office and told Denoi. This time I saw more roaches. He got some spray and went to my unit and sprayed what he could. He told me to give him my key and he would call the exterminator to come immediately to spray my unit and that he would move the items out so they could spray the whole thing. I was traveling for work and could not hire a truck, mover, and find a new unit in a day.
A week later I return and the exterminator had never come. So I had him go with me to the unit, pull out everything, he sprayed the walls and the floors and I pushed everything back in. He swept up the dead roaches. We had to discuss billing since I as being charged for insurance in error so I told him that I expected everything to be credited. It wouldn’t been $36. He says “you want the whole thing?” Which is crazy because he should’ve been proactively offering the credit, to move me to a different unit or to move me to a different facility. He said he didn’t know if he could get it approved. I explained for him to tell the manager to call me and I would explain why they must issue the full months credit. Only one unit had the roaches which means they had someone move in.
He tells me that he issued the credit but this man issues it as a credit towards the next month. No!!! I told him he needed to issue the credit back to my form of payment. He FINALLY does and then I have the billing issue again on my other unit regarding the insurance. Finally he issued the credit so I got both units at no charge.
The only reason I haven’t moved is because I can’t bring myself to go back in that unit and clean out the boxes, plus I travel for work and am barely in town. Last I move to another state so it didn’t make sense to hire movers again to move from one facility to the next and then to have to move again out of state less then 30 days later. I just found someone I can pay to shake out all the clothes and go through the boxes and was everything before I go to the new unit.
2. Billing issues-Denoi asked if my homeowners insurance covered the storage unit; I didn’t know. So he told me that he would add the insurance that they had and then to call my insurance company to find out. If they did then call him and he would remove it. I confirmed my homeowner’s coverage would cover both units and called within 3 days to have it removed. He said ok. The next month is was charged $11 extra for both units. I asked why and he told me that I had to come in and sign some paperwork. Then he told me he could not remove it from the very first month because they don’t credit retro.
He should’ve told me that in the beginning instead of adding it automatically and charging me an extra $22 for what I didn’t need on the first month. Then he should’ve told me that I needed to sign paperwork to have it removed so I wasn’t charged again the second month. That’s $44 extra he got. It took a good bit of work just to get the credit on the second month and never got the first months credit. Then one of the units was charged on the third month. Finally he issued a full credit for that month.
I never got my money back on my card. I’m over it now. This was a nice looking facility but it’s too easy to get bugs from another unit. And they will do nothing to make it right. The roaches came from 361. I had unit 360 and 359. ... Read more
