Read some helpful reviews of iStorage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Picture this: the hours online show when they are open, so you go during one of those times. When you get there, you find a sign on the door that says they have new hours at this location and you find that you are, in fact, there during a designated time at which they should be open. Now, you see another sign on the door stating this location has limited hours and you should call a number for more information or to schedule an appointment. When you call the number, no one answers and you get a message that says the voicemail has not been set up. You end up renting at another storage facility. End of story. ... Read more

I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. I really hate to leave bad reviews; I would just hate for someone to have to go through all the hurdles I went through while being here the last 6 months. I gave notice to cancel my unit on September 20th via email to the property manager, Natalie (agreement states you have to give 7 days notice before next billing date, which was October 3rd). I gave ample notice and was told to take lock off unit, clean it, and be out before next billing date of October 3rd. On Thursday, October 2nd, we go to the office to inform the property manager, Natalie, that we are out, lock is removed, it’s cleaned, etc. No one is there and the door is locked. Mind you, business hours are from 10:00 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday. This is the second time I have tried to go to the office and it has been locked and no one is there during business hours. Hmm…. So, I go ahead and send photos of the unit and email them to Natalie to inform her since she wasn’t there. Well come October 3rd, I’m still charged. I emailed Natalie and customer service that morning, no response. I stop by on Saturday, October 4th to the office and another girl from another store is working because the property manager called in. She stated that there were no notes on my account saying I was canceling my unit. I asked who I could contact above the property manager at that location and she stated it would be the area manager. Great! Can I have his information? Unfortunately, they can’t give it out…but she can email him and let me know what he says? Okay….? I also want to add that they have a mice problem at their facility. I had an expensive yoga mat that was bit into pieces and mice droppings on the floor and on my boxes. ... Read more

I rented two climate control spaces at this facility starting in May and just received notice of a second rate increase after having just increased the rates in July. Half the time the air conditioning is not working properly and most of the time the onsite office is closed. I would NOT recommend this facility and its shady management practices. ... Read more

I had a positive experience, overall, in spite of some minor details. First, although I was initially put in contact with a person working at the exact location at which I was looking to rent a second unit (Bellville, TX), they were obliged to have someone from HQ contact me for the purpose of signing me up for a second unit. That went well enough, but the HQ person was not able to tell me my new unit number or location -- for that information, I would need to contact the person with whom I had originally been speaking. At no point was I ever able to view a diagram or photograph of my new 10'x20' unit (I wanted to know if the ceiling height at the rear of the unit was greater than at the entrance, because of some oddball-sized items I'll be storing there), or see how far it was from my existing unit, or how far it was from the exterior doors. Minor details, but a fix for each of them should be very easy -- for a capable manager or website-designer. The people with whom I interacted were all very polite and professional. ... Read more

I had short notice from my company that I was being relocated to one of our out of town offices. The things I had in storage had to go with me. Natalie helped me get all my ducks in a row and made it whole lot easier and a better plan than I had. Good to see the younger generation taking care of business and enjoying doing it. Thank you ... Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
