I will say the interactions with the ladies that work there are friendly. But, this is probably the only pro. Recently my dad past in Oct, and I knew he had a storage unit here. I had the key, an old keycard, his death certificate, proof I was his only child, and was paying on the unit. Despite this, because they had switched to a pin code to get through the gate, which I didn't have, they would not let me through. My dads passing was sudden and he never thought to give anybody the pin code. Despite paying for 4 months, we finally decided to abandon the unit. Then they contacted my grandfather, since his address was what was still on the unit and said he could have had access if he had gone down there. At no time did they mention anybody else might possibly be allowed in. I was even told by several lawyers that they should have all the information required to get access to the unit. The owner feels crooked, just wanting us to pay and then eventually auction the unit off because there is no use in us paying if we aren't getting access. In response to the "legal process." The probate lawyer I talked to said that it is completely up to the storage unit facility to determine if they release the unit to the heir when proper paperwork is shown and no probate is happening. This is due to the uniqueness of storage units. After 4 months of claiming someone else might come by and claim the unit belongs to them as to why they couldn't give me access is a bit silly. I'm sure they'd keep using that excuse even if it had been a year. The paperwork provided was sufficient to protect them in case someone who doesn't exist does magically appear. ... Read more

I understand u guys having the covid19 hours. But it says ur open on the weekends. Apparently not. I get there it says open at 10am to 2pm. I try and open the door and it's locked, I see another sign that says will return at 12pm. I wait there for 2 and a half hours an no one shows up. My debit card doesn't work on the machine outside I have to pay inside. I shouldn't pay a late fee if the workers aren't there when they are supposed to be. ... Read more

We love to speak to the owner. Just moved out of my climate control storage unit. As we were moving my stuff out, both of my couches are covered in heavy mold. This is a climate control unit, so there should be no mold on them. The storage unit was also cold, so the climate control is not working. ... Read more

We found the facility to be very clean and convenient. The employees were friendly and very helpful in answering our questions. At least they had a restroom that customers could use, not like another storage facility in town that had an"out of order" sign on the restroom for over 3 months. I can highly recommend Colonial Mini Storage. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
