I paid for a unit in Gilmer, Texas, but instead was given a unit near Pittsburgh, Texas that is about 15 miles away, but was told at first that it counts as Gilmer. When i tried to move to the location that I signed up for, they said the special price was now only available at the Pittsburgh location and not at the Gilmer location. The Gilmer location would be $20 more per month. Since i was 3 hours from home with a full truck, I was forced to take the unit that was in the next town or pay the $20 extra to get the location i signed up for. I don't know if it was the old bait and switch or just a straight up lie from a dishonest conpany, but either was this is NOT a trust worthy company and I would not recommend KO to anyone. Also, the first person I spoke to when i arrived in Gilmer was totally and completely clueless. She had no idea what she was doing and gave us wrong information about everything. First, she gave us the wrong information about the location, then about the unit, then she told me to go to the location on Highway 21. When I said there is no hwy 21 here she said oops 71, again I said there is no 71 again she said she meant 271... then she gave me the wrong address numbers twice. It was such a bad expeeience that I really thought I was being pranked. ... Read more

There were spiders everywhere. Every door I opened had some sort of bug or spider on it or right inside the door. Also spiders crawling around in the units or making webs in the corner…kinda disappointing. I at least expected the climate controlled area to be bug free. Update: The facility reached out to me and provided a solution to the problem. Hopefully spraying for them will keep the spiders away! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
