Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

They keep raising my rent because of supposed market demand, but they seem to have plenty of units available and their "introductory offer" is still advertised online to newcomers. Let me ask you this - what do YOU think of a company that penalizes you for staying in business with them? My $106 unit crept up to $161, now $191. All in under 18 months. I have the receipts to prove it. To add insult to injury - they're advertising the same unit now for only $96 to newcomers. Beware that I am not the only person with this complaint. Google "Public Storage Raise Rent" and you will see EXACTLY what I am talking about. Also, it's not just this place - it's ALL the Public Storage locations. This is what their corporate policy is. ... Read more

I'm not being sarcastic when I say my best experience with this company was moving out -- the staff made everything casual and simple, and before I left the property I was sent a thank you note and the charges stopped. ... Read more

On January 2nd 2025 I called Public Storage at the Thousand Oaks address and I talked to a wonderful customer service person by the name of Erica and she answered all of my questions very professionally and she took patients with me and she was very kind. She told me about the review which I was not aware of but I'm so glad she did and the rating that I gave her she deserve it. Thank you Erica keep up the good work and may God richly bless you in 2025 and Beyond. ... Read more

Max was so awesome! I had an issue with my payments mistakenly being applied to the incorrect unit due to changing units when I started my rental. Max was able to help me track down the funds and helped with ensuring that I wasn't assessed any additional fees that weren't warranted. Thank you again so much for all your help. ... Read more

Service was good over the phone, but once I get there, they rush me through the sign in and didn’t really know where it was. Had to follow her to make sure where it was not the greatest service. I know I have a business and having to go during late hours, but I still treat the First Customer And my last customer the same, she insisting in calling her manager to make sure she was allowed to stay took longer than to go show me where the place was instead she didn’t wanna get me to go in. I told her I was not gonna come back. I had 15 minutes when I went there, and by the time she made all the phone calls I was down to the last minute, and she calls manager to make sure she can stay longer, not happy with that at all having a truck full of stuff and ready to put in and I wasn’t signed in yet. She had all my information on. There was not very helpful when I got there wanting to go home and making sure she got paid for staying for me ... Read more

He provided all the information we needed and then we got to talking. Very friendly, very courteous. He’s definitely a face you want at your front desk dealing with customers. Good job! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
