Read some helpful reviews of Safe Site Storage at 826 South Main Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

This post is going to be long but, I've got to post it. My husband rented a storage unit at their Clearfield location in April 2019. He was moving OUT of an apartment down the street and didn't know where he was going to move-in to. He found a new place and signed a lease for an apartment in May 2019. He kept this storage unit for 2 months as he moved from that storage unit to a new one close to where he lives. He gave a 14-day notice to vacate by email and mailed USPS. Six months later, he received a phone call from NAR, a collection agency telling him he owed money for the storage unit at Safe Site Storage in Clearfield. He asked me to talk to them for him, which I did. I explained to them how my husband had vacated the storage unit back in June 2019 and I had written documentation to prove this to them. The agency told me to get ahold of the people at Safe Site and let them know I disputed the debt and they should "call back" the collection account so NAR would stop collection. I did just that and ended up emailing with the owner. The people in the office suggested emailing because the owner was hard to catch. I emailed and the owner ignored me at first then responded by telling me he had rented this storage unit and never given notice he was leaving and they only noticed the unit was empty when they opened it to sell at auction. I pointed this out to the owner and was told, they did not have to speak with me unless I had a Power of Attorney for my husband. The owner then went on to say they would not look at what I was presenting as proof. They were right and I'm wrong as far as they were concerned. The owner also said they received a 14-day notice. (I have a copy), therefore my husband owes her rent for six additional months plus all the late fees, plus attorney fees. (All this AFTER telling me they wanted a POA). My husband signed an authorization letter, specifically for Safe Site Storage and I to communicate and negotiate and I emailed it and sent it USPS, to the owner. The owner refuses to honor it and called me a cyber-bully! It's been refused to call back the collection account when the collection agency said that's all that needs done, with a phone call. The owner refuses to acknowledge his dispute and now, had the collection agency file this matter in court. I was never called, never sent a letter in the mail to know she was doing this. The owner states there was no contact info in the file. I am the tenants payee who pays his bills and my name is all over this file. During the six months, the owner claims no knowledge the unit was empty and only figured that out when they un-over-locked the unit for non-payment. I guess this place let's people get six (6) months behind until they lock you out! The owner is difficult to work, I definitely would not recommend this storage unit facility to anyone. I looked through the reviews and can see a few other previous tenants similar things have happened to. ... Read more

A lot of people seem to have bad experiences with this company, but I've been renting a 4x10 and now a 9x9 with them for about 6 years and never had a problem. First unit (the 4x10) could definitely have used a bit of a restoration (weather stripping was horrible, collected dust like you wouldn't believe, but I never asked for it to be fixed, so that's kinda on me), but the second unit I have is as tightly sealed as I expect from an outdoor storage unit. Life has been much easier since they instituted online payments about a year ago, they were the only check I've written for 6 or 7 years, so I'm happy about that. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Safe Site Storage - 826 South Main Street has to offer. These amenities include Drive-Up Access, Security Camera, Gate, Unstaffed Location, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
