Just started renting a storage unit at this location in Virginia Beach. Several things with this facility that needs improvement.
A. Pavement around 75% of the facility is in really bad shape. Potholes, orange cones covering holes in the pavement.
B. People just leave the overflo from there units sitting outside in front of them. 2 units right now with a lot of items just sitting outside of units in the drive areas.
C. A trailer (right in the middle of pavement) and truck are parked right next to my unit. Almost couldn't get to my unit due to a trailer left in the middle of the driveway.
D. Had to lube up the rollup door to my unit I just rented, door would barely open and close and was extremely loud in doing so. Much better now. ... Read more

Highly do not recommend. This location was previously a Ma and Pop owned local business name Witchduck Self Storage, upon CubeSmart’s purchase everything went downhill. To start, there was no clear communication on switching over to the CubeSmart system. All gate codes, and online accounts were changed with no notice. Monthly rates will go up MULTIPLE times, every single year. The great deal you got after Christmas will cost you at least 50% more by the end of summer, under previous ownership there was a total of $20 in price raising across my 2+ years with them. The lot itself fell into disarray as well, with a sewer grate located right outside of my locker that was collapsing into the ground, with a hole large enough for my leg to slide into all the way up to my hip (I’m 6’ for reference), this sat un-repaired for almost a year. Rain water gained access to my unit through a decently sized rusted hole on the roof, ruining a large collection of books. Trying to cancel was another hassle in itself. Multiple days of phone calls, with no answer, led to a call back 45 minutes prior to close on the last day of my billing period. Heather, whom every other review seems to be praising, stated that I needed to have vacated the property on the previous day, which I had, and I’d need to pay another month’s rent with no explanation as to why I hadn’t received a call back over the previous days. Upon telling her that the unit was empty already, and that I simply wouldn’t be paying due to their negligence, she agreed to waive the extra month. She than tried to use a “gotcha” moment, telling me that I’d need to remove my personal lock prior to business closing hours, this had already been done as well, and then decided to argue the fact of if my lock was on the unit, as I stood there at home with the lock in my hand. She stated that she had just done her daily walk down and “lock check” and was adamant that she verified there was a lock on my locker, lying about unit security like that should be enough grounds for anyone to look in a different direction. All in all, this place used to be a respectable business, but now it’s clearly trying to suck every penny out of anyone that goes through its gates. If you’re in a pinch, it’s a decent short term price, but if you’re looking more long term, I’d highly recommend finding a 757 locally owned unit. ... Read more

Needed a unit due to military move. Heather was amazing. We were in a hurry as this move was last minute. She made the process flawless. Moving can be very stressful, even though we’re experienced, but we told her what we needed. We Really didn’t have to do anything for except Complete the process and put our stuff in and of course pay reasonable prices. Great customer service I couldn’t ask for better. I have used this facility and found it to be what I needed and the staff was so friendly. I had to move out in an emergency situation and the lady upfront was EXTREMELY helpful in my situation from start to finish. Her name was Heather and what a blessing. I was new to renting and the whole transition was so easy with her help. If I ever need a storage again, I would DEFINITELY use this location and Heather. If you have ANY needs or questions ( mine were all dumb n many, lol) then just ask for Heather as she took her time with me and I felt very comfortable leaving everything I own in their hands!! We’ve been at this CubeSmart location for less than two weeks, and unfortunately, our locker was broken into, trashed, and many items were stolen. My wife contacted the district manager, who stated it was not their responsibility and that we had to go through our own insurance.
It’s incredibly disappointing to experience not only a lack of security but also a complete lack of accountability or genuine customer care. For a company that charges nearly $300 just to move in, you’d expect more than just cameras pointed at the office and front entrance. There should be better site wide security and some level of support when a customer suffers a loss on your premises.
What’s worse is that CubeSmart made no real effort to help us no apology, no support, not even a small credit to ease the financial burden. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited to see how they would handle the situation before writing this review. Sadly, their response shows that customer safety and satisfaction are not priorities here.
If you’re considering this location, think twice especially if you value your belongings and expect even basic customer service. ... Read more

We’ve been renting at this CubeSmart location for less than a month and have already experienced serious issues. From the start, we noticed a clear homeless presence around the facility individuals often loiter near units and try to sneak glances while you’re moving in or accessing your locker. It’s unsettling and makes you feel like you’re being watched.
Despite years of renting storage units at multiple locations with no problems, this was our first negative experience. Unfortunately, our locker was broken into over a weekend. Security at this location is minimal cameras are only at the front gate and office, giving an illusion of safety rather than actual protection.
When we brought this up with the district manager, we were told we should have used CubeSmart’s insurance instead of our own (which came with a $500 deductible). There was zero accountability or empathy no credit, no reimbursement, and no attempt to make things right, despite us spending nearly $300 just to move in, not to mention the moving costs.
This location clearly does not prioritize customer safety or satisfaction. We’ll be moving our items to a more secure facility. If you’re considering renting here, think twice CubeSmart doesn’t seem to value its customers or their belongings. ... Read more

I was really pleasantly surprised when I checked in here. I booked online, which was super easy and I got a good deal. But when I went to my unit everything was amazingly organized. The temp lock on the door kept my space secure until I checked in and my lock was waiting in the unit. The plastic was pre-cut so that I could actually open it which was a really nice touch!
