I came with a uhaul almost at closing time and they were able to fully accommodate last minute changing me to a larger unit after hours, when I forgot to change cards on auto pay they worked with me and waited a week, the manager keeps the place very tidy and is professional and her office smells divine always. She’s a hard worker that keeps your stuff safe all hours. Thankful for my 1.5 year stay and will use again if needed and highly recommend. ... Read more

Been using the Edison St Storage for about 2 years, and think it's a great place. The grounds are always clean, and the one time I had a problem, I reported it, gave permission to enter my unit, and the problem was taken care of immediately. Recommend them to anyone who needs/wants a "spare garage" for stuff. ... Read more

I have rented here previously and never had an issue. This year 2019 I placed my stuff in storage for 3 months and my couches and mattress were covered in rodent droppings. I didn't have storage insurance which was my mistake. I had to buy brand new couches and mattresses. Please don't make the same mistake I made. I do not recommend this place. Update on 10-8-19 to Edison Mini Storage (yes you). I believe my biggest mistake was not getting storage insurance. However my second mistake was using your facility. Allow me to give you some perspective since you are once again minimizing my poor experience. Prior to using your facility all of my household belongings were in a climate controlled storage facility in Seattle for several months. I did NOT have a rodent problem then. Not sign of rodent droppings when I cleaned out my storage unit. Fast forward 4 months and I was beyond shocked when I notice the copious amounts of rodent droppings while at Edison Mini Storage. The response from Edison Storage was that I should purchase the TomCat product to catch the rodents myself. Not exactly empathetic to my situation. Here is a recap of the damage. Rodent droppings covered my 2 sets of couches and 3 sets of mattresses. The mice chewed through my couch and they made a nest in my ottoman. I had to replace all of this at my own expense. Only two of the mattresses were old so Edison is only half correct. Both of my couches and my third mattress were less than 3 years old. So yes it was a BIG financial loss. As for that partial refund. It was $55 and I used this to cover my expense to haul and dispose of the ruined furniture. Edison I wasn't satisfied with this outcome at all. I just kept my mouth shut because I couldn't say anything nice. I will pass on the helpfull suggestion that Edison Storage gave me: anyone who rents here should consider getting Tomcat and renter insurance. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Edison Street Mini Storage - 5417 West Hood Avenue has to offer. These amenities include Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate and Parking. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
