I apologize in advance for the length of this post. But you will want to read it all. If I could give them less than 1 star, I would. I cannot discourage you enough to stay away from this place! If you are tempted, run—do not walk—to the next nearest storage site. Ask your neighbor, your crazy relative, even your local garbage dump. But do NOT use this unethical and disreputable firm! Your dog would treat you better and would provide more reliable service and have more integrity than all the people at EZ Self Storage, even if he pooped all over your stuff. Over the years I had numerous problems. But the options for controlled-climate storage are limited in Milwaukee, and each time I forgave them and said to myself “Hopefully it won’t happen again.” As it turns out, I was much too understanding. I will detail one example here, but this was not an isolated incident. I cannot stress enough that if you value your time and money and your self-respect to stay away from this business. Write me directly if you want more detail. The summary is that they repeatedly bounce you from employee to employee, break contracts and agreements, raise prices, and don’t honor agreements they have made. Customer service means nothing to them. I had been a steady client for many years, and over the years the management deteriorated and service became worse and worse. In less than 18 months there were 3 price increases on my storage unit. But it wasn’t just the ever-skyrocketing prices. I could have lived with that. About 2 years ago I had a large storage unit. When I wanted to downsize, I spoke with Alyssa. They had 2 units of the size I wanted. She told me they had no current prospects for those units, so it would not be a problem if I considered other options and got back to her by the end of that month, which was several weeks away. She even said she’d call and give me right of first refusal if they had 2 other interested clients. You can imagine my surprise when I called about a week later and spoke with Stacy, the manager, and told her I wanted one of those units and she told me they had both been rented. She claimed to be unaware of Alyssa’s agreement. She told me they had no other units of that size available on that property or any of their many other properties. She said I could get on a waiting list. After I begged for some kind of consideration, given that at that point I’d been a tenant for almost 15 years, she offered me 2 adjoining smaller units for the price of the one I wanted. Though this was less convenient for me, I agreed. She guaranteed me she would not raise the price. She said I needed to make that move immediately, so I rearranged my schedule completely and did the move. They called the next day—I had already done the move--and told me they had “unexpectedly” had a unit of the size I had wanted open up—at the same location no less! 2 or 3 different employees badgered and hounded me for days to make the move again, but I didn’t have time. I reminded them of the hassle they had already caused me. Each one claimed Stacy had told them to call me without knowledge of our agreement. I didn’t hear from them for a bit, and I did not move again. Needless to say, I was shocked yet again when a short time later I got a new lease in the mail, and was being charged the price for 2 smaller units. The combined rent was almost 50% higher than the price I had been promised. Since I didn’t want to move again, I signed. I paid rent. A few months later, I got another lease in the mail, with yet another rent increase. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I promptly made other arrangements, got my stuff out, and have never looked back. I advise you to do the same. ... Read more

I think the place is great. I was able to call and arrange to get my locker that same day. The woman that I spoke with on the phone was incredibly helpful. I originally opted for a 2'x4' locker but when my boyfriend and I got there and realized it was much too small, I called the office back and the woman I talked to was able to set us up with a larger locker on the spot. Once you call and set up the lease, you can use your locker right away if you have your own lock. A few days later EZ Storage sends you the contract (to sign and mail back) along with a lock and black sharpie to keep. The climate controlled building was great since when we initially moved our stuff in it was very hot and humid outside. Some of the items that we are currently storing would be sensitive to drastic weather so I love the fact that our locker is indoors. I also appreciate that we don't have to either sweat or freeze (depending on the season) when we stop to drop something off or pick something up. Overall, we are very happy with our choice of business. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Storage Rentals of America - 13301 West Silver Spring Road, available security amenities may include Security Camera, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 13301 West Silver Spring Road for specific restrictions and recommendations.
