Buoy Storage is the place for you if you like the idea of management allowing convicted burglars to keep renting space there! Yup...I was working in my unit last month when I took a quick bathroom break. Unfortunately, I was dumb enough not to lock my unit. When I returned, I found that my laptop had been stolen. I immediately told the sole office worker, the owners 20 year old granddaughter, who caught the thief red handed - walking out of my unit - on their surveillance camera. The granddaughter strongly proclaimed that if they caught the thief, Buoy would surely terminate his storage unit. Well, the cops ultimately caught the thief who had multiple burglary and theft convictions going back 30 years, not to mention a 3-year prison stint for...you guessed it....burglary. So, when the thief meets me the next day at the scene of the crime, and, without admitting guilt, buys me a brand new laptop, the Buoy office worker was like "All's good ??." It was like nothing happened. When I asked her if Buoy was going to kick this felon out, she said, "No...why should we? He bought you a new laptop, and we don't even know if he stole it." Perfect!! Turns out the convicted felon, Scott Krafft, rents a very large unit. Profit over safety, i guess. Speaking of safety, Buoy claims their facility is locked at 9:00 p.m. every night. Well, the mechanical gate in front of the facility has so much rust on it, it likely hasn't worked in a decade. I was able to access my unit this past September and October at all hours of the night. So...go to Buoy Storage if you like renting next to convicted burglars and where anyone has free access to the premises 24/7 ... Read more

BEWARE... Be very careful choosing this place for your belongings.. The owners will cut your locks.. Even when up to date.. On payments. And steal your property. The son stole some of my belongings. I confronted him on this matter. Told me, his workers, ONLY, look for tools. He asked me if i wanted to see footage. I said yes. Then he went nuts on me. I called cops, there was nothing they could do. Told me, it was a Civil matter. So just BEWARE. The mother, son and and his daughter are all THIEVES. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At TrueLock Storage - 11825 Sheridan Road, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

  • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
  • Perishable food
  • Live plants or animals
  • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 11825 Sheridan Road for specific restrictions and recommendations.
