Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 1606 Cotner Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I had a great experience at Public Storage on Cotner Ave. The facility was clean, secure, and easy to access, but what really stood out was the excellent customer service from Ercan. Moving out can be stressful, and in many places—whether it's a storage facility, apartment complex, or other property—the staff are not always very helpful once you're leaving. Ercan was completely different. He went above and beyond to make the move-out process smooth and hassle-free. He was professional, friendly, and genuinely willing to help. He even assisted with moving some of our belongings, which was greatly appreciated. It's rare to find someone who takes such pride in helping customers. Thank you, Ercan, for making the experience so easy. I highly recommend this location. ... Read more

My daughter is a student at UCLA so we rented a 5 x 5 unit to store her stuff for the summer. We arrived for the first time and Ercan personally walked us right to our unit and showed us how to access the gate and the elevator. He was very friendly and helpful, and we are grateful for the excellent customer service we received. I would recommend this facility to other UCLA families. ... Read more

This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a storage company. Our unit has flooded multiple times, and while we were offered a different unit, it was only at our own expense. It is moist and mildewed in my unit and smells when you get off the elevator. Then in February, we were robbed, and we just found out TODAY 7/19/ 2025—months later—when we discovered a brand-new Public Storage lock on our unit. We reported that our key no longer worked, only to be told our UNIT had been broken into. Shockingly, they had video footage of the robbery. Even worse—they never contacted us and failed to file a police report, despite knowing that several units, including ours, were hit. We were told someone allegedly rented a unit just to get the gate code and access other units. The contract they make you sign conveniently removes all liability on their end, while prices keep increasing—I'm now paying nearly $500 a month. Their only solution? "Call the insurance company." Absolutely unacceptable. At this point, I’m questioning whether this is an inside job. Beware of this company. ... Read more

I have been looking for a very specific size unit all week, my luck, yesterday morning one came available. I jumped on it, and went right over to have a look. John was in the office and could not have been kinder, more helpful or more amazing! He answered my many questions, showed the space and was great with tips and advice on how to move in and be really efficient with our rental. I always had the impression Public Storage folks were rude and not very helpful, but John really turned that around. I'll be honest, I had two other competitor locations reserved that I had fully intended to visit expecting the Cotner location, but thanks to John, I decided to go here. Someone needs to give this man a raise, if it were my business, I would have been really pleased with his customer service yesterday! ... Read more

As a small business (27+ years now), I've needed a secure storage spot for all my clients' confidential scripts and files, and the Cotner location has been great for 17 years now. (Yikes!) I've used storage units all over LA and Riverside Counties for 30+ years now, but I'm still at the higher-priced Cotner is manager John, 100%. Sure, Cotner is perfectly clean, well-lit, with easy parking and feels safe, but John makes the difference. Having a manager who knows his customers, who helps find the right size unit for your needs over the years, who reaches out with updates to the security system, etc. is rare. He keeps the load-in/move-out traffic running smoothly, AND he's professional, helpful, personable, and savvy. The Sunday/Monday guy is always lovely and helpful, too. But it's nice to do my storage stuff on Tues.-Sat. because John values me as a customer, keeping me loyal to P.S. (and I feel totally safe when I have to be alone, sorting in the unit during office hours). There's a lot to hate about the storage unit business overall... I REALLY miss my garage! But this is why a trusty, thoughtful, protective manager like John delivers real value for the cost. And as long as my ScriptNotes biz keeps going well, my client files will have a safe home at Cotner. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Public Storage - 1606 Cotner Avenue has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
