Their customer service is like playing a horrible game of telephone. Their agents that answer the phone are really good at setting up contracts and taking payments, however that’s it. I finally was able to close my account after calling for 2 weeks and threatening to contact the BBB. They’re famous for saying the property manager has to do that and they will send him a message to call you and it never happens. When he did call me back, the manager said customer service told him I wanted to keep my account and just pay monthly. ... Read more

Worst storage company on the planet! If I could give negative stars, I would. The door to my storage unit has been broken for four years. It finally fell all the way off the tracks, and Southern Star said that they would rather not fix the door. I have a nonprofit and this unit has been donated since day one. The contract even states that there will be no charges. Southern Star now said they would rather charge every month then fix the door or they’re going to lock my unit in seven days and sell all of my belongings (which are actually roughly 10,000 toys that we give to families at Christmas time). What an awful company! I’ve tried to get them to fix the door for four years and they haven’t. We were able to find another amazing storage unit, Lilac Storage in Montrose, and not only are they giving us the unit for free but they gave us two units! Do not use this place! And in response to your reply. I ABSOLUTELY told you about the door. The gentleman that runs the facility in Montrose and I had a discussion about it the very first time I met him. He said we could switch units if the door got worse because he is not a door guy and doesn’t know how to fix it. He also said that to me just last week on the phone. He also knew that the storage unit was donated. He even said that you guys would be willing to cook hotdogs at our nonprofit event but that never came to be because your customer service is garbage. I called and left messages a number of times and I emailed with no responses for over almost 2 weeks. Even after we told you the door was broken I was told the door wouldn’t be fixed unless I paid. Then you said you’d be willing to charge me the normal amount and I quote, “we don’t give anyone, anything for free, including non profits,” if I gave you sponsorship rights to my non profit because you knew my event was coming up but you still wouldn’t fix the door. You aren’t here so you don’t know. You’re an awful company, and everybody knows it. We also made sure that storage unit was perfectly clean when we left so you’re welcome. ... Read more

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.
