PLEASE NOTE – Many of the positive reviews of this place date back before Dec of 2021, when this was Bethel Self Storage. BSS was fantastic (4.9-star rating before). This new corporate company, Prime Storage, is a huge national chain, and they took over in January of 2022. This review applies to them specifically. I only post 1-star reviews if a place is truly horrible, and Prime Storage is. They are the textbook definition of cost-gouging, screw-you, get-away-with-it-because-we-can corporate scumbags that just want your money and couldn't care less about your experience. Six years of BSS and I was very happy – six months of these Prime people, and I had to leave (I waited to post this review until my family and related businesses withdrew from this place, which finally happened at the end of 2024). Long-story-short: They reduced convenience while significantly increasing rates, with no upgrades, no benefits, and worse customer service. Under Bethel Self Storage, I had multiple units here (at one point, three). Rates were steady, communication was good, and they were transparent, helpful, responsive, etc. Then in January, Prime takes over, and these were my costs (with no warning, and no changes/updates to my units, services, etc.): Jan: $330 (original rate) Feb: $346 March: $360 April: $447 May: $587 And I can confirm, for nearly everyone, they're still steadily increasing costs, particularly on long-term customers (for new ones, they'll lay low for a few months before gouging you). They 100% will do this to you if you get a unit here. They never explain why costs keep going up, except to remind you that you signed a "variable rate" contract (the only contract offered). In fact, they never answer any questions. Why is this unit of mine $40 more expensive than this identical one next to it? Why did you give me a $30 late fee for a bill that was paid almost a week *ahead* of schedule? Also, why do cops sometimes park at the gate and literally follow you when you enter, and then sit in their car 50ft away, without greeting you or waving or anything, just staring at you when you access your unit? They never answer any of the above. "It's policy" or "I don't have an answer for that" or "we'll get back to you" is all you ever get from Prime if you have questions or issues. They simply make up fees and charges, too. The "Individual Unit Coverage Insurance Mandate" – or whatever they call it – is complete nonsense, not an actual mandate or law that any other local storage company is aware of (I asked around and also asked an insurance attorney – it's total bull). Also, this location under Prime is managed remotely, so there isn't even someone on-site to talk to if you have any issues or need help 95% of the time (unless you want to approach the cops that sometimes stalk you here?). You have to call their national corporate number, navigate their infuriating automated system, wait on hold, then talk to someone in their customer service center who will "take your information" and "have someone call you back" – but that only happens maybe 30% of the time. Also, the new entry gate system they installed glitches out and doesn't open from time to time, from either inside or outside. The list goes on and on. Bottom line is, I absolutely hate these people, and everyone I spoke to since they took over (other customers/friends/family) also hates these people. They are horrible. Store anywhere else but here. There are several other local (and locally-owned) options. ... Read more

We recently moved from Washington State and were searching for a storage facility that offered easy access for semi trucks. Chaneese was the primary reason we decided to sign up. She was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating, going above and beyond to assist us. She saved us both time and money, showing empathy and understanding—qualities that are quite rare these days! ... Read more

I have been leasing at this facility since before Prime bought the property. I had two units at this facility for over 6 years, before I recently had time to move my belongings to another storage facility. Since Prime Storage has bought the facility, my overall experience (and bank account) has gone drastically downhill. This is a mega-corporation at the core, and they have no regard for long term customers. After Prime bought this facility, my rental fees went up by over 200%. Additionally, they force you to use their 'insurance' which costs $13 a month which you have no option to opt-out of. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is budget-conscious. They rope you in with low prices or a 'deal' and then yank the rug out from under their customers. ... Read more

I was very fortunate to have Teresa helping me with my storage unit. She was clear, detailed, and super helpful with everything I needed to know. She also has a very upbeat personality and was so welcoming. The one advance I would give, if you’re looking for a storage unit, ask for Teresa by name! She will help make this experience super seamless and easy! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Prime Storage (CT14) - 41 Durant Avenue has to offer. These amenities include 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Gate, Parking, First Floor Access and RV Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Prime Storage (CT14) - 41 Durant Avenue can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 480 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Prime Storage (CT14) - 41 Durant Avenue come at a variety of prices, starting from $79 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $452 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
