Read some helpful reviews of Drive-Up Storage at 483 Washington Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I was excited when i came across this place and hoped it would be different than the larger places like Life Storage but same BS. They will con you in with a reasonable rate, but give it 2 months and you will be as high as all the others. Mine has gone up over 80 bucks in a few months and just keeps rising. Outside units are they only ones east to use..all others are interior and you either need the elevator or hope you can find 1 of a few carts. You have to bring all your stuff through a standard door with a lip so half your stuff falls off the old carts. I am also contacted BBB and consumer protection but hey all play the same game until laws are put in place. Just stay or go to the bigger places..more convenient and your price will be right there after bs promo rate expires anyway. Avoid!! ... Read more

Do not rent storage from this place. We had our stuff in storage from 2003 and the old owners were great. After the new owners took over, they increased our rent six times since June 2022 and now the rent is nearly double what it was and more than double what is being advertised for the same size space on their website. They said that the specials on the website do not apply to existing customers and that the price would be increase to the price we are paying over-time for new customers. They are fully admitting to a bait and switch tactic. ... Read more

I was renting 2 units. 1 for 10 years and the other for the past 5 years. I started paying $125 each. When I moved out I was being charged $300+ for each. I moved to a place where I'm paying $137. The gate is broken, there are cars blocking the driveway with one entrance/exit. I moved out even though I liked most things. It was personally owned for years. It's owned now by a company which is hands off. No one in the office, not phone support, kiosk doesn't work. I just moved to a new place today from another storage company. I wanted to move back here but with the lack of customer service, not being able to drive in or out with my sports cars and daily driver, made it a no Brainer. I honestly believe that these storage facilities are owned by one group and they price control the units. If you have a car in storage, it's easy to move around at the first sign they double or triple your rent. ... Read more

300% rent increase at one time only been there 3 months That's a preposterous increase at once. As a new customer I was blindsided and perplexed why a company would increase my monthly bill from 60 to 180! ... Read more

After 2 months paying 50 a month now my rent is going up to $190 month with no warning. That's a 350% price increase. Facility gate doesn't work, is always open, and the door to get into the storage area doesn't lock so anyone can just walk in. No customer service either, calls go to an overseas call center that cant help you. I would avoid this place. ... Read more

This facility has really gone down hill since the new management company took over. Security is lacking because the access gate is almost always open. The hallways are not as clean as they used to be. Management seems to never be on site, even during listed office hours. I’ve been trying for days to get my account closed out because the price has more than doubled and I can’t get anyone to help me. Customer service is a joke. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the other myriad facilities available in the area. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Drive-Up Storage - 483 Washington Avenue has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Multi-Level Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
