Absolute Nightmare - Security Breach & Abandoned Facility My unit was broken into on Sunday night around 9 PM, just hours after I had safely locked it at 5 PM. The thief literally cut the door latch where my lock was and stole my belongings. Shockingly, my online portal shows that my personal gate/elevator code was used to gain access. No one else has my code, leading me to highly suspect an inside job, as employees have access to tenant information. When I came in on Wednesday after being notified, the only staff member present told me she "just got fired," and told me to just call insurance, gave me an new lock and come back tomorrow to speak with whoever. I had to call the police myself to file a burglary report and have fingerprints taken. To make matters worse, I am currently sitting outside the facility on Wednesday during normal business hours. The office is completely abandoned, no one is answering the phones, and corporate customer service is useless. The elevator pin pad is broken, leaving me and several other paying customers locked out of our units. I was supposed to move my remaining things out today, but I am entirely stranded. Avoid this place at all costs-zero security and zero management. ... Read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Public Storage and want to warn others before they rent here. I originally rented a unit online because the price and size (5x5) were appealing. However, hidden fees and shady practices quickly soured the experience. You’re charged $22 for a lock that costs a few bucks on Amazon — they say they’ll refund it if returned, but I only got refunded for one of two locks. You’re also charged $20/month for insurance unless you go through a complicated process to prove you already have your own — and even then, it’s unclear if they’ll actually remove it. They advertise “First Month Free,” but it turns out that only applies to new customers. I rented a second unit thinking I’d get the same deal, and was shocked to see an $80 bill. When I finally got through to someone (after trying for days and only reaching them through online chat), they told me it’s only free for first-time customers. This wasn’t clearly disclosed — and that’s deceptive. There’s also a $29.99 admin fee for every unit, even if you’re already a customer. Between that, insurance, and overpriced locks, your “free” month becomes anything but. The facility itself is dark and gloomy. The biggest day-to-day frustration? Carts. There’s usually only one — if it’s even available. They remove them after business hours, making it nearly impossible to move your stuff. I had to buy my own cart and keep it in my truck just to manage. The gate system is supposed to be automatic but often malfunctions, forcing you to punch in the code repeatedly. The office is almost always empty. I visited five times and rarely saw staff. Once, I caught someone there who didn’t want to help and was clearly playing games on their phone. The whole place just feels neglected. For comparison, Extra Space Storage just a few blocks away is clean, bright, and well-run. Fernando, the manager there, actually helps customers and keeps prices reasonable. I only came to Public Storage because Extra Space didn’t have any small units available. I regret it. If Public Storage were upfront about their fees and actually had staff on-site, I might rate this 3 or 4 stars — the price looks good and the unit itself is functional. But the deception and lack of support ruined the experience. Until they fix these shady practices and offer better service, I’ll be avoiding Public Storage and encouraging others to do the same. ... UPDATE 03/17/25: I am very disappointed with receiving an email from a debt collector today that I owe to Public storage. I returned my unit on January 29th, 2025. Below is proof of the pictures how I left the unit and I went to front desk and communicated that I left, I followed all of her instructions and told her how nice she was. Now I’m very upset that I am being charged and accused of non payment of $148.32 (the new monthly rate that was increasing effective month of February). BEWARE OF INCREASING PRICES & CANCELLATIONS & WRONGFUL ACCUSATION. ZERO STARS. Excellent service. I never had an issue, I was here for a few months. Ashely is great, always has a smile on her face. Very clean bathrooms and space. Thank you! ... Read more

I recently visited Public Storage, and I have to say, Ashley provided some of the best customer service I've experienced. From the moment I walked in, she was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. She took the time to understand my needs and explained all the options clearly. Ashley’s attention to detail and genuine care made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It's rare to come across someone who not only knows their job inside out but also goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. If you're ever at this location, I highly recommend asking for Ashley. She made what could have been a routine task feel like a personalized experience. Five stars all the way! ... Read more

It’s cooler outside than in the building, I pay $350 a month after they keep increasing the rent every month and just tried to come out some stuff in AND THERE ARE NO CARTS!!! It’s NOT air conditioned under 80 degrees because it’s cooler outside and there is no way to get your stuff to your unit FOR THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH!!!?????? This is unacceptable!!! Update looks like someone donated a cart because it’s not the regular ones they have. I guess they’re sick of not having anything to move their stuff either. It’s WAY too much money to spend when it’s barely air conditioned and there are NEVER any carts. IDC if people steal them you have cameras get the license and take them to court I pay good money for storage and I expect basic upkeep. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
