Read some helpful reviews of Snapbox Self Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Well operated facility, clean, climate controlled and priced well. AJ is a fantastic manager and very helpful. Not sure why, but bathrooms are not in operation in the building apart from when the office is manned so that's a little inconvenient. Good location. I'm using it for my personal and business needs. ... Read more

Before 2025 there was a very helpful human working in the office at the Fort Lauderdale site every day. It’s a little more challenging having to call to get a human but today I spoke with Francisco who was very helpful (without being in the office)! Thank you Francisco :) ... Read more

First I would like to commend the property manager AJ ,Phenomenal person, Very detailed in the way he cleans daily and cares for others, way better than the previous company that was here but as a tenant looking in and reading some of these reviews we have to speak up as most of these tenants don't read and comprehend ,also rates moving in are only promotional that lasts 3 months better than all storages around with a 30 days' notice before increases to standard rates, trust me we've been through it, just call in and ask for a rate negotiation . My husband and I have quite a few units here for years but find it hard why other tenants can be so rude at times as we've seen numerous but, AJ is always so calm and punctual , great conversationist and problem solver, It would be great if my grandchildren had his features of style or even the etiquette of a phone conversation, Once again great guy and for a storage it's an AMAZING CLEAN PROPERTY!!! WE LOVE SNAPBOX FORT LAUDERDALE :) ... Read more

AJ at SnapBox Storage in Fort Lauderdale was absolutely fantastic. I needed help handling a specific situation, and he was efficient, responsive, and genuinely helpful in finding a solution. The facility itself is also immaculate, well-organized, and clearly well-managed. On top of that, their prices are very competitive. Highly recommend both the location and AJ if you’re looking for stress-free storage with great customer service. ... Read more

BUYER BEWARE: Bait and switch, dynamic pricing, price gouging...whatever you want to call it, this place is doing it. Do not rent here. My rent was doubled after my very first payment. The increase was reversed after repeated calls of complaints. Now, a couple months later, it was increased by 130%. That's crazy. After much time wasted again to finally reach a representative, they lowered it slightly. My increase is "only" 80%. AVOID THIS PLACE. Note: The reviews are likely being manipulated. Tons of complaints about this place previously. But somehow suddenly has a decent rating. ... Read more

I never knew about Snapbox storage until now and I will never go to any other storage facility after completing a rental here. It’s clean, enclosed gated secured parking, dedicated spacious loading and unloading spots in front of door, and price was great! I had to contact customer service to take care of a billing issue. After Dealing with a few other representatives I called back and had the pleasure to speak with Krystal. Unlike the other representatives Krystal was very nice, read the notes on my account and was able to rectify the error. Hopefully with time the others will become as efficient and have the knowledge that she has. ... Read more

The facility is great. Easy to get in and out of, overall very clean. One issue so one star off is that we got locked out during move in and there is nobody that works here apparently and when we called phone numbers they all went to voice mail. So it cost me several hundred dollars to accommodate the moving co.pany with nowhere to put things. We almost had a guy get stuck in the building because elevators were cut off. Not sure what would have happened? And then the second problem so another star off is billing. They got me in with low pricing and then only 2 months in they raise rates over 20%!? I am guessing all storage places operate like this so not that surprising. But it will cost more to try and move to another facility and they know it and the next one will probably do the same thing. So caught between a rock and a hard place. Would be nice if when I sign a contract for a rate it would be locked in for at least a year? If they raise prices again in the next year I will definitely move to another storage that can guarantee me a rate and time frame (if they exist). ... Read more

Having rented units in this building since they opened 4 (?) years ago, there have been ups & downs with changes in management and owners. The latest transition resulted in an office that was unoccupied for nearly a month and many tenants had concerns. But of late “ Go Store It”has really gotten their act together, particularly when I’ve been able to get them on the phone ; most recently Crystal this evening was able to answer all of my questions clearly, With a tremendous mastery of the English language, and the personality to deal with whatever issues I presented. Courtesy, patience, knowledge of the facility and anxious to serve. That’s Crystal. Every business should employees with Crystals skills. ... Read more

Just moved in. A bit chaotic at first, as the unit assigned wasn’t the size I requested, then the one reassigned was already taken when I went to it. However, both AJ, the property manager, and Adria, at customer service on the phone, were able to help, and did a good job. I read lots of negative reviews, so let’s see if it was bad luck for the reviewers, or a constant. Either way, we will see how the cookie crumbles. ... Read more

I have also been trying to contact this facility for weeks (as other reviewers have mentioned) and have received no response. We will be closing our unit at the end of the month and moving elsewhere. If you ignore my above warning and choose to rent here anyways, I encourage you to check your homeowner's insurance policy, as ours offered 'off site storage coverage' far in excess of the requirements of the facility so that you can actually take advantage of their advertised rates rather than being scammed into the upcharge of taking their in-house insurance. Other negative reviews here also contain nonsense responses like 'we will talk to our team, learn from this etc' but its clear they haven no intention of doing so and are regularly failing at one of the most basic components of customer service. There are lots of other choices in town, make a better one than renting here. ... Read more

This place is the worst, one no one is ever available to answer calls, 2 from what I’m seeing the owner obviously doesn’t really care about how this place is managed they claim in the review responses that they will take care of everything but nothing here has changed ive been renting for a little over a year here and it’s so terrible, my next step is to go to the better business bureau because this is crazy. The guy who works there with the dreads is not professional at all there are obviously homeless people living in the building, I go to my unit to look for some documents and I overhear him yelling at someone you can’t sleep here, but if you do you’d have to be out before 9. I personally respect anyone giving a hand to the community, but myself as a resident who pays faithfully each month, I don’t find it safe or a good idea to have homeless people living around my personal belongings and I’m sure others agree. I had a bag of poop outside my unit. It’s always trashy, the restrooms are never open for use, I always see homeless people sleeping in their unit, I’m assuming it’s theirs. Online it says it’s open to 10 but it’s always closed at 9. Nothing here seems professional, and I just feel the owner just did this to gain some compensation. Then the staff is always unprofessional, yelling at people who pay to store their, this place is just unbelievable. And I’m just going to end my contract soon. I don’t feel safe going in, it’s always trashy, or pissey just not and idea storage place. I would definitely not recommend this place at all. Ive been reaching out to the office to gain assistance because someone put trash on the top of my yntil. I’m very disappointed. ... Read more

Avoid This Place! If I could give zero stars, I would. The bathrooms in the warehouse are a complete disaster—when they’re not locked, which is almost always. The staff is incredibly unprofessional; I actually heard the man at the front desk screaming at a customer over the phone. ... Read more

-unfortunately since writing this review, we have experienced nothing but the opposite. There is horrible customer service and they doubled our rent without notice overnight. In a six month period our rent went from $100 and change to $400 per unit. We are so disappointed in the overall experience with this location. Can’t say enough about our experience at this property. The Property Manager has helped us several times with various issues. It’s been a very different experience than any other warehouse we have rented at. We will be loyal customers for a long time. ... Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

The facility at 1401 SW 1st Avenue is accessible during regular access hours, typically Mon-Sun: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Office hours and gate access times may differ, so it’s a good idea to check the facility’s posted schedule before your visit.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Snapbox Self Storage - 1401 SW 1st Avenue, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 1401 SW 1st Avenue for specific restrictions and recommendations.
