As someone who has too much stuff, I needed a new storage unit ASAP. Our family found one online and proceeded to reserve the unit. As we were completing the process, a young lady called to help us complete the rental. My goodness, we could not have asked for a more pleasant person to help us. Trina Rene, not only aided us in the rental, but met us at the unit to make sure it was clean and that the lock was on site. Talk about above and beyond!! We are very grateful for a wonderful storage rental experience. ... Read more

Trina was an amazing help with resolving issues I was experiencing with renting a storage unit. Her patience, understanding and professionalism on addressing my concerns after three days of being shuffled around from agent to agent. She took ownership and resolved my concerns directly. I know who to ask for in the future if I need help. ... Read more

I checked out several other storage facilities in our area and have been very pleased with my choice. We recently had 2 hurricanes that went through the area, and Randy made sure everything was in order before and after the storms passed. I oftentimes see him going through the facility, cleaning up, and making sure everything's in order. Stacie has been an absolute joy to work with and has helped me anytime I had questions. They communicate very well with email, and I really appreciate the App for accessing the facility. I've received communications when they were going to be shutting down for the storm as well as anything else that would be important for their customers to know. If the app stops working, you just need to uninstall and reinstall, and it has fixed it every time. It even mentions that within the App. I'm very glad I found this facility, and I appreciate everything Stacie has done. Her customer service is a big reason I have recommended this facility to friends and neighbors. I look forward to being a customer for a long time. ... Read more

If I could give public storage zero Stars I would. This is the worst experience I have ever, by far had anywhere! It blows my mind that I have to leave a horrible review in hopes it will fix my problem. I rented a 10x20 unit on October 22 with plans to store the contents of our two bedroom condo in preparation for a out of Statesmove. 2 weeks ago I finally moved my belongings into the unit. The only items I moved into the unit were some clean clothes. Just a couple suitcases and tote bags and a few boxes. This is a brand new facility. I think it's been open for 2 months. 24 hours after moving in just some clothing, I return to find my clothing completely infested with cockroaches. I proceeded to the main building to try to get a hold of someone on the kiosk. I explained to the employee what was going on and she said that she was going to put in a claim. Luckily there was a maintenance man on site that overheard my conversation an offer to spray the unit right away. He saw the roaches. He sprayed and said it would kill them. He also said he could assist me in going on my phone and making a claim. Him trying to show me then ask if I could hand him my phone and he would you get me started. Upon hearing my phone I didn't realize what he was really doing was writing a Google review said I wasn't aware of and didn't agree with by any means. My boyfriend calls as well about a claim no this is three times a claim it's supposed to be a made. Trying to practice patience, I wait to hear a response back from insurance. In the meantime we know that this cockroach infestation is only growing. After about a week Iof not hearing anything I go to the location petrified to open the unit try to reach an employee on the kiosk. The kiosk is broken. Oh you can rent a space and it will take your money but you cannot get an agent. Actually at this moment I was able to get an agent but I could not hear them and they could not hear me. I attempt again. 3 agents all no audio. Call the phone number after I'm completely frustrated speak to someone. I'm told someone will meet me at the location. They never show. They never call. I spend 5 hours trying to kill and shake out live German roaches of all sizes. They are pouring out of closed suitcases and bags of my clean clothes they are running up the walls. This is mortifying. I returned to the location two more times. Attempt to get an employee on the kiosk still can't it doesn't work at all however you can rent a space and they can take your money fine. There's not a soul to be found anywhere at these self-serve locations. At this point, in speaking with other customers, they are starting to experience the same issue. I exchanged information with the other customers so we can use each other as reference and witness in the situation. Upon leaving, a gentleman that was trying to rent a unit can't figure out how because of the broken kiosk. This man is so frustrated and was on his way out. I asked him if he needed help an assisted him in renting a unit and he was so grateful he even insisted on paying me for help. Of course I told him it was unnecessary. However why I even helped horrid facility I don't know it's just my nature. The way these things are operated are a joke. People spend their hard earned money for this???!! This was yesterday and I still have no response from anyone. I know they're going to call looking for their monthly payment. Mind you there phones absolutely work for that. And someone will be out there quick to lock you out for sure. This is just not right. My belongings are ruined. I will not be taking them out of their to wash them because anywhere I go they're just going to follow obviously. They need to be thrown in the trash. They also have cockroaches infesting the mulch I've never seen anything like it I don't know who brought them in our weather coming from but they are starting to spread into everyone's units. This place needs to be shut down. Here I am. Still waiting on a call. Smh! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Public Storage - 3690 SE Lake Weir Avenue, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.
